2013-11-07smsc9420: Use netif_<level>Joe Perches
Use a more standard logging style. Convert smsc_<level> macros to use netif_<level>. Remove unused #define PFX Add pr_fmt and neaten pr_<level> uses. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2013-10-22net: smsc9420: remove unnecessary pci_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han
The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-09-16net: smsc: remove deprecated IRQF_DISABLEDMichael Opdenacker
This patch proposes to remove the IRQF_DISABLED flag from code in drivers/net/ethernet/smsc/ It's a NOOP since 2.6.35 and it will be removed one day. Signed-off-by: Michael Opdenacker <michael.opdenacker@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-03-09drivers:net: Remove unnecessary OOM messages after netdev_alloc_skbJoe Perches
Emitting netdev_alloc_skb and netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align OOM messages is unnecessary as there is already a dump_stack after allocation failures. Other trivial changes around these removals: Convert a few comparisons of pointer to 0 to !pointer. Change flow to remove unnecessary label. Remove now unused variable. Hoist assignment from if. 2013-02-08drivers: net: Remove remaining alloc/OOM messagesJoe Perches
alloc failures already get standardized OOM messages and a dump_stack. For the affected mallocs around these OOM messages: Converted kmallocs with multiplies to kmalloc_array. Converted a kmalloc/memcpy to kmemdup. Removed now unused stack variables. Removed unnecessary parentheses. Neatened alignment. 2013-01-14net: phy: remove flags argument from phy_{attach, connect, connect_direct}Florian Fainelli
The flags argument of the phy_{attach,connect,connect_direct} functions is then used to assign a struct phy_device dev_flags with its value. All callers but the tg3 driver pass the flag 0, which results in the underlying PHY drivers in drivers/net/phy/ not being able to actually use any of the flags they would set in dev_flags. This patch gets rid of the flags argument, and passes phydev->dev_flags to the internal PHY library call phy_attach_direct() such that drivers which actually modify a phy device dev_flags get the value preserved for use by the underlying phy driver. 2012-12-03smsc9420: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. 2012-06-06ethernet: Remove casts to same typeJoe Perches
Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force, __iomem and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p A function in atl1e_main.c was passed a const pointer when it actually modified elements of the structure. Change the argument to a non-const pointer. A function in stmmac needed a __force to avoid a sparse warning. Added it. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2012-02-15net: replace random_ether_addr() with eth_hw_addr_random()Danny Kukawka
Replace usage of random_ether_addr() with eth_hw_addr_random() to set addr_assign_type correctly to NET_ADDR_RANDOM. Change the trivial cases. v2: adapt to renamed eth_hw_addr_random() Signed-off-by: Danny Kukawka <danny.kukawka@bisect.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-02-08netdev: ethernet dev_alloc_skb to netdev_alloc_skbPradeep A. Dalvi
Replaced deprecating dev_alloc_skb with netdev_alloc_skb in drivers/net/ethernet - Removed extra skb->dev = dev after netdev_alloc_skb Signed-off-by: Pradeep A Dalvi <netdev@pradeepdalvi.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-01-31drivers/net: Remove alloc_etherdev error messagesJoe Perches
alloc_etherdev has a generic OOM/unable to alloc message. Remove the duplicative messages after alloc_etherdev calls. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-11-08sweep the floors and convert some .get_drvinfo routines to strlcpyRick Jones
Per the mention made by Ben Hutchings that strlcpy is now the preferred string copy routine for a .get_drvinfo routine, do a bit of floor sweeping and convert some of the as-yet unconverted ethernet drivers to it. 2011-10-31drivers/net: Add module.h to drivers who were implicitly using itPaul Gortmaker
The device.h header was including module.h, making it present for most of these drivers. But we want to clean that up. Call out the include of module.h in the modular network drivers. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com>
