git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace Pull user namespace and namespace infrastructure changes from Eric W Biederman: "This set of changes starts with a few small enhnacements to the user namespace. reboot support, allowing more arbitrary mappings, and support for mounting devpts, ramfs, tmpfs, and mqueuefs as just the user namespace root. I do my best to document that if you care about limiting your unprivileged users that when you have the user namespace support enabled you will need to enable memory control groups. There is a minor bug fix to prevent overflowing the stack if someone creates way too many user namespaces. The bulk of the changes are a continuation of the kuid/kgid push down work through the filesystems. These changes make using uids and gids typesafe which ensures that these filesystems are safe to use when multiple user namespaces are in use. The filesystems converted for 3.9 are ceph, 9p, afs, ocfs2, gfs2, ncpfs, nfs, nfsd, and cifs. The changes for these filesystems were a little more involved so I split the changes into smaller hopefully obviously correct changes. XFS is the only filesystem that remains. I was hoping I could get that in this release so that user namespace support would be enabled with an allyesconfig or an allmodconfig but it looks like the xfs changes need another couple of days before it they are ready." * 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ebiederm/user-namespace: (93 commits) cifs: Enable building with user namespaces enabled. cifs: Convert struct cifs_ses to use a kuid_t and a kgid_t cifs: Convert struct cifs_sb_info to use kuids and kgids cifs: Modify struct smb_vol to use kuids and kgids cifs: Convert struct cifsFileInfo to use a kuid cifs: Convert struct cifs_fattr to use kuid and kgids cifs: Convert struct tcon_link to use a kuid. cifs: Modify struct cifs_unix_set_info_args to hold a kuid_t and a kgid_t cifs: Convert from a kuid before printing current_fsuid cifs: Use kuids and kgids SID to uid/gid mapping cifs: Pass GLOBAL_ROOT_UID and GLOBAL_ROOT_GID to keyring_alloc cifs: Use BUILD_BUG_ON to validate uids and gids are the same size cifs: Override unmappable incoming uids and gids nfsd: Enable building with user namespaces enabled. nfsd: Properly compare and initialize kuids and kgids nfsd: Store ex_anon_uid and ex_anon_gid as kuids and kgids nfsd: Modify nfsd4_cb_sec to use kuids and kgids nfsd: Handle kuids and kgids in the nfs4acl to posix_acl conversion nfsd: Convert nfsxdr to use kuids and kgids nfsd: Convert nfs3xdr to use kuids and kgids ...
2013-02-129p: Modify the stat structures to use kuid_t and kgid_tEric W. Biederman
9p has thre strucrtures that can encode inode stat information. Modify all of those structures to contain kuid_t and kgid_t values. Modify he wire encoders and decoders of those structures to use 'u' and 'g' instead of 'd' in the format string where uids and gids are present. This results in all kuid and kgid conversion to and from on the wire values being performed by the same code in protocol.c where the client is known at the time of the conversion. 2013-02-10fs/9p: Don't use O_TRUNC flag in TOPEN and TLOPEN requestAneesh Kumar K.V
We do the truncate via setattr request, hence don't pass the O_TRUNC flag in open request. Without this patch we end up sending zero sized write request to server when we try to truncate. Some servers (VirtFS) were not handling that properly. Reported-by: M. Mohan Kumar <mohan@in.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Aneesh Kumar K.V <aneesh.kumar@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Eric Van Hensbergen <ericvh@gmail.com>
2012-09-06fs/9p: avoid debug OOPS when reading a long symlinkJim Meyering
Reading a symlink longer than the given buffer, a p9_debug use would try to print the link name (not NUL-terminated) using a %s format. Use %.*s instead, and replace the strncpy+strnlen with functionally equivalent strlen+memcpy. Signed-off-by: Jim Meyering <meyering@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Eric Van Hensbergen <ericvh@gmail.com>
2012-07-14don't pass nameidata to ->create()Al Viro
boolean "does it have to be exclusive?" flag is passed instead; Local filesystem should just ignore it - the object is guaranteed not to be there yet. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-07-14stop passing nameidata to ->lookup()Al Viro
Just the flags; only NFS cares even about that, but there are legitimate uses for such argument. And getting rid of that completely would require splitting ->lookup() into a couple of methods (at least), so let's leave that alone for now... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-07-14make finish_no_open() return intAl Viro
namely, 1 ;-) That's what we want to return from ->atomic_open() instances after finish_no_open(). Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-07-14kill struct opendataAl Viro
Just pass struct file *. Methods are happier that way... There's no need to return struct file * from finish_open() now, so let it return int. Next: saner prototypes for parts in namei.c Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-07-14make ->atomic_open() return intAl Viro
Change of calling conventions: old new NULL 1 file 0 ERR_PTR(-ve) -ve Caller *knows* that struct file *; no need to return it. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-07-14->atomic_open() prototype change - pass int * instead of bool *Al Viro
... and let finish_open() report having opened the file via that sucker. Next step: don't modify od->filp at all. [AV: FILE_CREATE was already used by cifs; Miklos' fix folded] Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-07-149p: implement i_op->atomic_open()Miklos Szeredi
Add an ->atomic_open implementation which replaces the atomic open+create operation implemented via ->create. No functionality is changed. Signed-off-by: Miklos Szeredi <mszeredi@suse.cz> CC: Eric Van Hensbergen <ericvh@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-05-06vfs: Rename end_writeback() to clear_inode()Jan Kara
After we moved inode_sync_wait() from end_writeback() it doesn't make sense to call the function end_writeback() anymore. Rename it to clear_inode() which well says what the function really does - set I_CLEAR flag. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: Fengguang Wu <fengguang.wu@intel.com>

2012-01-05fs/9p: We should not allocate a new inode when creating hardlines.Aneesh Kumar K.V

2012-01-059p: Reduce object size with CONFIG_NET_9P_DEBUGJoe Perches
Reduce object size by deduplicating formats. Use vsprintf extension %pV. Rename P9_DPRINTK uses to p9_debug, align arguments. Add function for _p9_debug and macro to add __func__. Add missing "\n"s to p9_debug uses. Remove embedded function names as p9_debug adds it. Remove P9_EPRINTK macro and convert use to pr_<level>. 2012-01-049p: don't bother with unixmode2p9mode() for link() and symlink()Al Viro
Pass perm to v9fs_vfs_mkspecial() instead of passing mode; calculate in caller when done for mknod(), use known value for link() and symlink(). As the result, we avoid a bit of work *and* stop mixing mode_t with P9_DMLINK. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2012-01-04switch ->create() to umode_tAl Viro
vfs_create() ignores everything outside of 16bit subset of its mode argument; switching it to umode_t is obviously equivalent and it's the only caller of the method Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-01-04switch vfs_mkdir() and ->mkdir() to umode_tAl Viro
vfs_mkdir() gets int, but immediately drops everything that might not fit into umode_t and that's the only caller of ->mkdir()... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-01-04vfs: fix the stupidity with i_dentry in inode destructorsAl Viro
Seeing that just about every destructor got that INIT_LIST_HEAD() copied into it, there is no point whatsoever keeping this INIT_LIST_HEAD in inode_init_once(); the cost of taking it into inode_init_always() will be negligible for pipes and sockets and negative for everything else. Not to mention the removal of boilerplate code from ->destroy_inode() instances... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2011-09-06fs/9p: Add fid before dentry instantiationAneesh Kumar K.V
d_instantiate marks the dentry positive. So a parallel lookup and mkdir of the directory can find dentry that doesn't have fid attached. This can result in both the code path doing v9fs_fid_add which results in v9fs_dentry leak. 2011-07-23fs/9p: When doing inode lookup compare qid details and inode mode bits.Aneesh Kumar K.V
This make sure we don't use wrong inode from the inode hash. The inode number of the file deleted is reused by the next file system object created and if we only use inode number for inode hash lookup we could end up with wrong struct inode. Also compare inode generation number. Not all Linux file system provide st_gen in userspace. 2011-03-22fs/9p: Use truncate_setsize instead of vmtruncateAneesh Kumar K.V
convert vmtruncate usage to truncate_setsize. We also writeback all dirty pages before doing 9p operations and on success call truncate_setsize. This ensure that we continue sanely on failed truncate on the server. The disadvantage is that we are now going to write back the content that get thrown away later as a part of truncate.
