2013-03-19ARM: imx: add dependency check for DEBUG_IMX_UART_PORTShawn Guo
While adding i.MX DEBUG_LL selection, commit f8c95fe (ARM: imx: support DEBUG_LL uart port selection for all i.MX SoCs) leaves Kconfig symbol DEBUG_IMX_UART_PORT there without any dependency check. This results in that everyone gets the symbol in their config, which is someting undesirable. Add "depends on ARCH_MXC" for the symbol to prevent that. Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann: "A large number of cleanups, all over the platforms. This is dominated largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems. The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even specify the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device tree as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes basically touch every single platform in the process. We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here, with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being "multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose their headers to architecture independent code any more. It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup. The overall reduction in total code lines is mostly the result of removing broken and obsolete code." * tag 'cleanup' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc: (133 commits) ARM: mvebu: correct gated clock documentation ARM: kirkwood: add missing include for nsa310 ARM: exynos: move exynos4210-combiner to drivers/irqchip mfd: db8500-prcmu: update resource passing drivers/db8500-cpufreq: delete dangling include ARM: at91: remove NEOCORE 926 board sunxi: Cleanup the reset code and add meaningful registers defines ARM: S3C24XX: header mach/regs-mem.h local ARM: S3C24XX: header mach/regs-power.h local ARM: S3C24XX: header mach/regs-s3c2412-mem.h local ARM: S3C24XX: Remove plat-s3c24xx directory in arch/arm/ ARM: S3C24XX: transform s3c2443 subirqs into new structure ARM: S3C24XX: modify s3c2443 irq init to initialize all irqs ARM: S3C24XX: move s3c2443 irq code to irq.c ARM: S3C24XX: transform s3c2416 irqs into new structure ARM: S3C24XX: modify s3c2416 irq init to initialize all irqs ARM: S3C24XX: move s3c2416 irq init to common irq code ARM: S3C24XX: Modify s3c_irq_wake to use the hwirq property ARM: S3C24XX: Move irq syscore-ops to irq-pm clocksource: always define CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE ...

2013-02-05ARM: imx: support DEBUG_LL uart port selection for all i.MX SoCsShawn Guo
Extend imx6q DEBUG_LL uart port selection support to cover all i.MX SoCs. The 'range' of the Kconfig option gets dropped, as users looking at the option must know the uart number on his board. The bottom line is that the build system will report an error if an invalid port number is picked for given SoC. The header arch/arm/include/debug/imx-uart.h is created to accommodate all the uart base addresses. And the header will also be used for other low-level debug facility later. 2013-02-05ARM: imx: use separated debug uart symbol for imx31 and imx35Shawn Guo
It's improper to use combined symbol DEBUG_IMX31_IMX35_UART for imx31 and imx35, because imx31 has 5 UARTs while imx35 only has 3. So later when we add UART port selection for DEBUG_IMX31_IMX35_UART, we will have problem. Use separated Kconfig options for imx31 and imx35 debug uart selection. 2012-11-16ARM: imx6q: let users input debug uart port numberShawn Guo
imx6q gets 5 uart ports in total. Different board design may choose different port as debug uart. For example, imx6q-sabresd uses UART1, imx6q-sabrelite uses UART2 and imx6q-arm2 uses UART4. Rather than bloating DEBUG_LL choice list with all these uart ports, the patch introduces DEBUG_IMX6Q_UART_PORT for users to input uart port number when DEBUG_IMX6Q_UART is selected inside DEBUG_LL choice. Move imx debug-macro.S over to common debug macro directory. It removes the inclusion to hardware.h by hard-coding the physical address of uart port and copying IMX_IO_P2V from hardware.h. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM soc multiplatform enablement from Olof Johansson: "This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More platforms will be convered over in the next few releases. Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and possible: * Today each platform has its own include directory under mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead, and this branch moves a large number of those out to include/linux/platform_data. * Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot. 2012-09-14ARM: initial multiplatform supportRob Herring
This lets us build a multiplatform kernel for experimental purposes. However, it will not be useful for any real work, because it relies on a number of useful things to be disabled for now: * SMP support must be turned off because of conflicting symbols. Marc Zyngier has proposed a solution by adding a new SOC operations structure to hold indirect function pointers for these, but that work is currently stalled * We turn on SPARSE_IRQ unconditionally, which is not supported on most platforms. Each of them is currently in a different state, but most are being worked on. * A common clock framework is in place since v3.4 but not yet being used. Work on this is on its way. * DEBUG_LL for early debugging is currently disabled. * THUMB2_KERNEL does not work with allyesconfig because the kernel gets too big [Rob Herring]: Rebased to not be dependent on the mass mach header rename. As a result, omap2plus, imx, mxs and ux500 are not converted. Highbank, picoxcell, mvebu, and socfpga are converted. 2012-07-13ARM: vexpress: Config option for early printk consolePawel Moll
Versatile Express platform can be used in different configurations, the console UART used by early printk may be located at different addresses in the address space. This patch makes it possible to select the base address of a PL011 UART to be used as a console output in the kernel configuration. The default behaviour is still the heuristic detecting memory map on Cortex-A core tiles. The zImage decompressor will use the same configuration values or print out nothing if DEBUG_LL is not enabled. Signed-off-by: Pawel Moll <pawel.moll@arm.com>
2012-07-09ARM: 7445/1: mm: update CONTEXTIDR register to contain PID of current processWill Deacon
This patch introduces a new Kconfig option which, when enabled, causes the kernel to write the PID of the current task into the PROCID field of the CONTEXTIDR on context switch. This is useful when analysing hardware trace, since writes to this register can be configured to emit an event into the trace stream. The thread notifier for writing the PID is deliberately kept separate from the ASID-writing code so that we can support newer processors using LPAE, where the ASID is stored in TTBR0. As such, the switch_mm code is updated to perform a read-modify-write sequence to ensure that we don't clobber the PID on CPUs using the classic 2-level page tables. 2012-05-09ARM: davinci: implement DEBUG_LL port choiceUwe Kleine-König
Apart from the necessity to do this change for multi-platform kernels the previous logic depended on the zImage decompressor to write the physical and virtual address to a magic memory location. If the decompressor is unused or not correctly configured for the current machid, the addruart macro was an infinite loop. Moreover debugging the early zImage code was not possible either.
