Pull a few more ARM platform fixes from Olof Johansson:
"Apologies for back-to-back fixes pull requests, but one of the patches
below are the kind we'll see posted over and over if we don't send it
in. I hadn't done the full sanity-check of defconfig builds by the
time I sent up the other fixes yesterday or I would have included it
then.
Two patches, one dealing with the system.h fallout, the other is a
missing linux/bug.h in a place where ARRAY_SIZE() is used."

ARM: clps711x: fix missing include file
ARM: fix builds due to missing <asm/system_misc.h> includes
|
|
This does a sweeping change fixing up all the missing system_misc.h and
system_info.h includes from the system.h split-up change. These were the
ones I came across when building all defconfigs in arch/arm/configs, there
might be more but they lack adequate build coverage to be easily caught.
I'm expecting to get a lot of these piecemeal by each maintainer, so we
might just as well do one sweeping change to get them all at once.

Pull "ARM: cleanups of io includes" from Olof Johansson:

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system
Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells:
"Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of
separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion
dependencies.
I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can
and made sure that they don't break.
The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular
dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to
optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2().
This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in
asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h.
The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of
low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg.
memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that
aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()).
These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces:
(1) asm/barrier.h
Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha.
(2) asm/switch_to.h
Move switch_to() and related stuff here.
(3) asm/exec.h
Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits
could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h.
(4) asm/cmpxchg.h
Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and
frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg().
(5) asm/bug.h
Move die() and related bits.
(6) asm/auxvec.h
Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here.
Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis."
Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code
around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat
weakened by that. We'll find out anything that got broken and fix it..

The only users of ARCH_HAS_DMA_SET_COHERENT_MASK are 2 ARM platforms:
ixp4xx and pxa cm_x2xx. We've been getting lucky that the define is
implicitly included before dma-mapping.h, but the removal of io.h broke
things (c334bc1 ARM: make mach/io.h include optional). Since memory.h
is the correct place, but no longer exists, convert the define to a
kconfig entry.

Pull #1 ARM updates from Russell King:
"This one covers stuff which Arnd is waiting for me to push, as this is
shared between both our trees and probably other trees elsewhere.
Essentially, this contains:
- AMBA primecell device initializer updates - mostly shrinking the
size of the device declarations in platform code to something more
reasonable.
- Getting rid of the NO_IRQ crap from AMBA primecell stuff.
- Nicolas' idle cleanups. This in combination with the restart
cleanups from the last merge window results in a great many
mach/system.h files being deleted."

Remove the now empty arch_reset() from all the mach/system.h includes,
and remove its callsite. Remove arm_machine_restart() as this function
no longer does anything useful.
For samsung platforms, remove the include of mach/system-reset.h and
plat/system-reset.h from their respective mach/system.h headers as these
just define their arch_reset functions. As a result, the s3c2410 and
plat-samsung system-reset.h files are no longer referenced, so remove
these files entirely.

sched_clock() is yet another blocker on the road to the single
image. This patch implements an idea by Russell King:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-omap/msg49561.html
Instead of asking the platform to implement both sched_clock()
itself and the rollover callback, simply register a read()
function, and let the ARM code care about sched_clock() itself,
the conversion to ns and the rollover. sched_clock() uses
this read() function as an indirection to the platform code.
If the platform doesn't provide a read(), the code falls back
to the jiffy counter (just like the default sched_clock).
This allow some simplifications and possibly some footprint gain
when multiple platforms are compiled in. Among the drawbacks,
the removal of the *_fixed_sched_clock optimization which could
negatively impact some platforms (sa1100, tegra, versatile
and omap).
Tested on 11MPCore, OMAP4 and Tegra.

We only need to set the system up for a soft-restart if we're going to
be doing a soft-restart. Provide a new function (soft_restart()) which
does the setup and final call for this, and make platforms use it.
Eliminate the call to setup_restart() from the default handler.
This means that platforms arch_reset() function is no longer called with
the page tables prepared for a soft-restart, and caches will still be
enabled.

Fix up conflicts in kernel/posix-cpu-timers.c manually: making
cputimer->cputime a raw lock conflicted with the ABBA fix in commit
bcd5cff7216f ("cputimer: Cure lock inversion").

Boards used to specify zreladdr in their Makefile.boot with
zreladdr-y := x, so conflicting zreladdrs were silently overwritten.
This patch changes this to zreladdr-y += x, so that we end
up with multiple words in zreladdr in such a case. We can
detect this later and complain if necessary.

With d8ecc5c (kbuild: asm-generic support, 2011-04-27) we can
remove a handful of asm-generic wrappers in ARM code. Since the
generic version of sizes.h doesn't contain SZ_48M, we replace
the 4 users of SZ_48M with the equivalent SZ_32M + SZ_16M.

Some platforms (like OMAP not to name it) are doing rather complicated
hacks just to determine the base UART address to use. Let's give their
addruart macro some slack by providing an extra work register which will
allow for much needed cleanups.
This is basically a no-op as this commit is only adding the extra argument
to the macro but no one is using it yet.

Annotate the low level hardware locks which must not be preempted.
In mainline this change documents the low level nature of
the lock - otherwise there's no functional difference. Lockdep
and Sparse checking will work as usual.

Remove IO_SPACE_LIMIT definitions from platforms which have a well
defined ISA or PCI, and has a 64K window.

Rather than marking the mach/gpio.h header files which want to use the
trivial GPIOLIB implementation, mark those which do not want to use it
instead. This means that by default, you get the trivial implementation
and only have to do something extra if you need to. This should
encourage the use of the trivial default implementation.
As an additional bonus, several gpio.h header files become empty.

Many of the gpio_to_irq implementations use the gpiolib version of this
function. Provide the standard gpiolib gpio_to_irq() for everyone, but
allow platforms to override it if they wish. Add the neccessary
overrides for those platforms which do not use the standard definition.

Aside of the usual motivation for constification, this function has a
history of being abused a hook for interrupt and other fixups so I turned
this function const ages ago in the MIPS code but it should be done
treewide.
Due to function pointer passing in varous places a few other functions
had to be constified as well.
