2012-10-23drm/radeon: give each backlight a unique idAlex Deucher
In cases where we have multiple radeons with backlight controls. Should fix: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48941 Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-10-04Merge branch 'drm-next' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linuxLinus Torvalds
Pull drm merge (part 1) from Dave Airlie: "So first of all my tree and uapi stuff has a conflict mess, its my fault as the nouveau stuff didn't hit -next as were trying to rebase regressions out of it before we merged. Highlights: - SH mobile modesetting driver and associated helpers - some DRM core documentation - i915 modesetting rework, haswell hdmi, haswell and vlv fixes, write combined pte writing, ilk rc6 support, - nouveau: major driver rework into a hw core driver, makes features like SLI a lot saner to implement, - psb: add eDP/DP support for Cedarview - radeon: 2 layer page tables, async VM pte updates, better PLL selection for > 2 screens, better ACPI interactions The rest is general grab bag of fixes. So why part 1? well I have the exynos pull req which came in a bit late but was waiting for me to do something they shouldn't have and it looks fairly safe, and David Howells has some more header cleanups he'd like me to pull, that seem like a good idea, but I'd like to get this merge out of the way so -next dosen't get blocked." Tons of conflicts mostly due to silly include line changes, but mostly mindless. A few other small semantic conflicts too, noted from Dave's pre-merged branch. * 'drm-next' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux: (447 commits) drm/nv98/crypt: fix fuc build with latest envyas drm/nouveau/devinit: fixup various issues with subdev ctor/init ordering drm/nv41/vm: fix and enable use of "real" pciegart drm/nv44/vm: fix and enable use of "real" pciegart drm/nv04/dmaobj: fixup vm target handling in preparation for nv4x pcie drm/nouveau: store supported dma mask in vmmgr drm/nvc0/ibus: initial implementation of subdev drm/nouveau/therm: add support for fan-control modes drm/nouveau/hwmon: rename pwm0* to pmw1* to follow hwmon's rules drm/nouveau/therm: calculate the pwm divisor on nv50+ drm/nouveau/fan: rewrite the fan tachometer driver to get more precision, faster drm/nouveau/therm: move thermal-related functions to the therm subdev drm/nouveau/bios: parse the pwm divisor from the perf table drm/nouveau/therm: use the EXTDEV table to detect i2c monitoring devices drm/nouveau/therm: rework thermal table parsing drm/nouveau/gpio: expose the PWM/TOGGLE parameter found in the gpio vbios table drm/nouveau: fix pm initialization order drm/nouveau/bios: check that fixed tvdac gpio data is valid before using it drm/nouveau: log channel debug/error messages from client object rather than drm client drm/nouveau: have drm debugging macros build on top of core macros ...

2012-09-27drm/radeon: restore backlight level on resumeAlex Deucher
Restore the backlight level on resume. Some systems need to explicitly restore the backlight level on resume. Fixes panel resume on my Trinity laptop and may fix the following bugs: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43829 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46241 Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-27drm/radeon: add get_backlight_level callbackAlex Deucher
Read back the backlight level from the hw. Needed for proper backlight restoration on resume. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon: fix typo in atombios_get_encoder_modeAlex Deucher
comparing the encoder mode to the encoder id for DVO. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon: white space cleanup in transmitter setupAlex Deucher
Makes it more consistent with the surrounding code. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon: clean up encoder dp checksAlex Deucher
Use the proper struct in the union. That field has the same offset in every struct, so no functional change. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon: Mark all possible functions / structs as staticLauri Kasanen
Let's allow GCC to optimize better. This exposed some five unused functions, but this patch doesn't remove them. Signed-off-by: Lauri Kasanen <cand@gmx.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon/atom: add consolidate bpc codeAlex Deucher
Several encoder setup functions had the same duplicated code for selecting the proper bpc setting for various atom tables. Consolidate it. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon: rework the backlight control to be an asic callbackAlex Deucher
This cleans up the interface a bit as well. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-09-20drm/radeon: implement handler for ACPI eventLuca Tettamanti
Set up an handler for ACPI events and respond to brightness change requests from the system BIOS. v2: fix notification when using device-specific command codes (tested by Pali Rohár <pali.rohar@gmail.com>); cache the encoder controlling the backlight during the initialization to avoid searching it every time (suggested by Alex Deucher). v3: whitespace fixes (Alex Deucher). 2012-09-20drm/radeon: add backlight control for atom devices (v2)Alex Deucher
On systems that use the build in GPU backlight controller, we can use atom tables to change the brightness level. v2: use firmware flags Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2012-08-29drm/radeon: fix dig encoder selection on DCE61Alex Deucher
Was using the DCE41 code which was wrong. Fixes blank displays on a number of Trinity systems. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org
2012-08-29drm/radeon/atom: rework DIG modesetting on DCE3+Alex Deucher
The ordering is important and the current drm code wasn't cutting it for modern DIG encoders. We need to have information about crtc before setting up the encoders so I've shifted the ordering a bit. Probably we'll need a full rework akin to danvet's recent intel patchs. This patch fixes numerous issues with DP bridge chips and makes link training much more reliable. 2012-07-25drm/radeon: fix dpms on/off on trinity/aruba v2Jerome Glisse
The external encoder need to be setup again before enabling the transmiter. This seems to be only needed on some trinity/aruba to fix dpms on. v2: Add comment, only setup again on dce6 ie aruba or newer. 2012-05-02Merge tag 'drm-intel-next-2012-04-23' of ↵Dave Airlie
git://people.freedesktop.org/~danvet/drm-intel into drm-core-next Daniel Vetter writes: A new drm-intel-next pull. Highlights: - More gmbus patches from Daniel Kurtz, I think gmbus is now ready, all known issues fixed. - Fencing cleanup and pipelined fencing removal from Chris. - rc6 residency interface from Ben, useful for powertop. - Cleanups and code reorg around the ringbuffer code (Ben&me). - Use hw semaphores in the pageflip code from Ben. - More vlv stuff from Jesse, unfortunately his vlv cpu is doa, so less merged than I've hoped for - we still have the unused function warning :( - More hsw patches from Eugeni, again, not yet enabled fully. - intel_pm.c refactoring from Eugeni. - Ironlake sprite support from Chris. - And various smaller improvements/fixes all over the place. Note that this pull request also contains a backmerge of -rc3 to sort out a few things in -next. I've also had to frob the shortlog a bit to exclude anything that -rc3 brings in with this pull. Regression wise we have a few strange bugs going on, but for all of them closer inspection revealed that they've been pre-existing, just now slightly more likely to be hit. And for most of them we have a patch already. Otherwise QA has not reported any regressions, and I'm also not aware of anything bad happening in 3.4. * tag 'drm-intel-next-2012-04-23' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~danvet/drm-intel: (420 commits) drm/i915: rc6 residency (fix the fix) drm/i915/tv: fix open-coded ARRAY_SIZE. drm/i915: invalidate render cache on gen2 drm/i915: Silence the change of LVDS sync polarity drm/i915: add generic power management initialization drm/i915: move clock gating functionality into intel_pm module drm/i915: move emon functionality into intel_pm module drm/i915: move drps, rps and rc6-related functions to intel_pm drm/i915: fix line breaks in intel_pm drm/i915: move watermarks settings into intel_pm module drm/i915: move fbc-related functionality into intel_pm module drm/i915: Refactor get_fence() to use the common fence writing routine drm/i915: Refactor fence clearing to use the common fence writing routine drm/i915: Refactor put_fence() to use the common fence writing routine drm/i915: Prepare to consolidate fence writing drm/i915: Remove the unsightly "optimisation" from flush_fence() drm/i915: Simplify fence finding drm/i915: Discard the unused obj->last_fenced_ring drm/i915: Remove unused ring->setup_seqno drm/i915: Remove fence pipelining ...
