2010-02-12drivers/net/atl1e: Use netdev_printk helpersJoe Perches
Logging messages sometimes had duplicated "ATL1E" output. For instance: ATL1E 0000:03:00.0: ATL1E: eth0 NIC Link is Up<100 Mbps Full Duplex> is now: ATL1E 0000:03:00.0: eth0: NIC Link is Up <100 Mbps Full Duplex> Add some consistency to logging messages Add some missing \n's to logging messages Miscellaneous typo spelling corrections Change atl1e_validate_option argument from pdev to adapter Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2010-01-07drivers/net/atl1e/atl1e_main.c: use %pM to show MAC addresshartleys
Use the %pM kernel extension to display the MAC address. The only difference in the output is that the MAC address is shown in the usual colon-separated hex notation. 2009-09-17atl1e: fix 2.6.31-git4 -- ATL1E 0000:03:00.0: DMA-API: device driver frees DMAJie Yang
use the wrong API when free dma. So when map dma use a flag to demostrate whether it is 'pci_map_single' or 'pci_map_page'. When free the dma, check the flags to select the right APIs('pci_unmap_single' or 'pci_unmap_page'). set the flags type to u16 instead of unsigned long on David's comments. 2009-08-02atl1e: return PCI_ERS_RESULT_DISCONNECT on permanent failureDean Nelson

2009-05-29net: dont update dev->trans_startEric Dumazet
Second round of drivers for Gb cards (and NIU one I forgot in the 10GB round) Now that core network takes care of trans_start updates, dont do it in drivers themselves, if possible. Drivers can avoid one cache miss (on dev->trans_start) in their start_xmit() handler. Exceptions are NETIF_F_LLTX drivers Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2009-01-21net: Remove redundant NAPI functionsBen Hutchings
Following the removal of the unused struct net_device * parameter from the NAPI functions named *netif_rx_* in commit 908a7a1, they are exactly equivalent to the corresponding *napi_* functions and are therefore redundant. 2008-12-26net: Fix warning fallout from recent NAPI interface changes.David S. Miller
When we removed the network device argument from several NAPI interfaces in 908a7a16b852ffd618a9127be8d62432182d81b4 ("net: Remove unused netdev arg from some NAPI interfaces.") several drivers now started getting unused variable warnings. This fixes those up. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-12-23net: Remove unused netdev arg from some NAPI interfaces.Neil Horman
When the napi api was changed to separate its 1:1 binding to the net_device struct, the netif_rx_[prep|schedule|complete] api failed to remove the now vestigual net_device structure parameter. This patch cleans up that api by properly removing it.. Signed-off-by: Neil Horman <nhorman@tuxdriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-11-21netdev: add more functions to netdevice opsStephen Hemminger
This patch moves neigh_setup and hard_start_xmit into the network device ops structure. For bisection, fix all the previously converted drivers as well. Bonding driver took the biggest hit on this. Added a prefetch of the hard_start_xmit in the fast path to try and reduce any impact this would have. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@vyatta.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2008-11-13netdevice: safe convert to netdev_priv() #part-1Wang Chen
We have some reasons to kill netdev->priv: 1. netdev->priv is equal to netdev_priv(). 2. netdev_priv() wraps the calculation of netdev->priv's offset, obviously netdev_priv() is more flexible than netdev->priv. But we cann't kill netdev->priv, because so many drivers reference to it directly. This patch is a safe convert for netdev->priv to netdev_priv(netdev). Since all of the netdev->priv is only for read. But it is too big to be sent in one mail. I split it to 4 parts and make every part smaller than 100,000 bytes, which is max size allowed by vger. 2008-11-04drivers/net: Kill now superfluous ->last_rx stores.David S. Miller
The generic packet receive code takes care of setting netdev->last_rx when necessary, for the sake of the bonding ARP monitor. Drivers need not do it any more. Some cases had to be skipped over because the drivers were making use of the ->last_rx value themselves. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2008-09-24[netdrvr] atl1e: Don't take the mdio_lock in atl1e_probeMatthew Wilcox
Lockdep warns about the mdio_lock taken with interrupts enabled then later taken from interrupt context. Initially, I considered changing these to spin_lock_irq/spin_unlock_irq, but then I looked at atl1e_phy_init() and saw that it calls msleep(). Sleeping while holding a spinlock is not allowed either. In the probe path, we haven't registered the interrupt handler, so it can't poke at this card yet. It's before we call register_netdev(), so I don't think any other threads can reach this card either. If I'm right, we don't need a spinlock at all. 2008-08-14[netdrvr] uninline atl1e_setup_mac_ctrl()Adrian Bunk
There doesn't seem to be a compelling reason why atl1e_setup_mac_ctrl() is marked as "inline": It's not used in any place where speed would matter much, and as long as it has only one caller non-ancient gcc versions anyway inline it automatically. This patch fixes the following compile error with gcc 3.4: <-- snip --> ...
