2008-07-24ide-scsi: remove kmalloced struct requestFUJITA Tomonori
This converts ide-scsi to use blk_get/put_request instead of kmalloc/kfree. Signed-off-by: FUJITA Tomonori <fujita.tomonori@lab.ntt.co.jp> Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>
2008-07-24ide: add ide_device_{get,put}() helpersBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
* Add 'struct ide_host *host' field to ide_hwif_t and set it in ide_host_alloc_all(). * Add ide_device_{get,put}() helpers loosely based on SCSI's scsi_device_{get,put}() ones. * Convert IDE device drivers to use ide_device_{get,put}(). Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>
2008-07-24PAGE_ALIGN(): correctly handle 64-bit values on 32-bit architecturesAndrea Righi
On 32-bit architectures PAGE_ALIGN() truncates 64-bit values to the 32-bit boundary. For example: u64 val = PAGE_ALIGN(size); always returns a value < 4GB even if size is greater than 4GB. The problem resides in PAGE_MASK definition (from include/asm-x86/page.h for example): #define PAGE_SHIFT 12 #define PAGE_SIZE (_AC(1,UL) << PAGE_SHIFT) #define PAGE_MASK (~(PAGE_SIZE-1)) ... #define PAGE_ALIGN(addr) (((addr)+PAGE_SIZE-1)&PAGE_MASK) The "~" is performed on a 32-bit value, so everything in "and" with PAGE_MASK greater than 4GB will be truncated to the 32-bit boundary. Using the ALIGN() macro seems to be the right way, because it uses typeof(addr) for the mask. Also move the PAGE_ALIGN() definitions out of include/asm-*/page.h in include/linux/mm.h. 2008-07-23ide-scsi: convert to using the new atapi_flagsBorislav Petkov
Remove unused IDESCSI_PC_RQ while at it. There should be no functionality change resulting from this patch. [bart: IDE_FLAG_* -> IDE_AFLAG_*, dev_flags -> atapi_flags] Signed-off-by: Borislav Petkov <petkovbb@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>
2008-07-23ide-scsi: pass packet command in rq->cmdBorislav Petkov
Make a redundant copy of the packet command bits into rq->cmd. Later, after all drivers have been converted, it'll be switched to use that in the common code instead of pc->c. There should be no functionality change resulting from this patch. Signed-off-by: Borislav Petkov <petkovbb@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>

2008-07-23ide: add struct ide_tp_ops (take 2)Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
* Add struct ide_tp_ops for transport methods. * Add 'const struct ide_tp_ops *tp_ops' to struct ide_port_info and ide_hwif_t. * Set the default hwif->tp_ops in ide_init_port_data(). * Set host driver specific hwif->tp_ops in ide_init_port(). * Export ide_exec_command(), ide_read_status(), ide_read_altstatus(), ide_read_sff_dma_status(), ide_set_irq(), ide_tf_{load,read}() and ata_{in,out}put_data(). * Convert host drivers and core code to use struct ide_tp_ops. * Remove no longer needed default_hwif_transport(). * Cleanup ide_hwif_t from methods that are now in struct ide_tp_ops. While at it: * Use struct ide_port_info in falconide.c and q40ide.c. * Rename ata_{in,out}put_data() to ide_{in,out}put_data(). v2: * Fix missing convertion in ns87415.c. There should be no functional changes caused by this patch. Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>
2008-07-23ide: add ->read_status methodBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
* Remove ide_read_status() inline helper. * Add ->read_status method for reading ATA Status register and use it instead of ->INB. While at it: * Don't use HWGROUP() macro. There should be no functional changes caused by this patch. Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>
2008-07-23ide: add ->exec_command methodBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
Add ->exec_command method for writing ATA Command register and use it instead of ->OUTBSYNC. There should be no functional changes caused by this patch. Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>

2008-07-22Driver Core: add ability for class_find_device to start in middle of listGreg Kroah-Hartman
This mirrors the functionality that driver_find_device has as well. We add a start variable, and all callers of the function are fixed up at the same time. The block layer will be using this new functionality in a follow-on patch. Cc: Kay Sievers <kay.sievers@vrfy.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2008-07-22device create: scsi: convert device_create to device_create_drvdataGreg Kroah-Hartman

2008-07-15ide-scsi: fix race in idescsi_transfer_pc()Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz

2008-07-15ide: remove action argument in ide_do_drive_cmdFUJITA Tomonori
ide_do_drive_cmd is called only with ide_preempt action argument. So we can remove the action argument in ide_do_drive_cmd and ide_action_t typedef. This patch also includes two minor cleanups: 1) ide_do_drive_cmd always succeeds so we don't need the return value; 2) the callers use blk_rq_init before ide_do_drive_cmd so there is no need to initialize rq->errors. Signed-off-by: FUJITA Tomonori <fujita.tomonori@lab.ntt.co.jp> Cc: Borislav Petkov <petkovbb@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <bzolnier@gmail.com>
2008-07-15ide-scsi: replace ide_do_drive_cmd with blk_execute_rq_nowaitFUJITA Tomonori
All the callers of ide_do_drive_cmd() except for ide-scsi use ide_preempt action argument. This converts ide-scsi to use blk_execute_rq_nowait instead of ide_do_drive_cmd so that we can remove the action argument in ide_do_drive_cmd and ide_action_t typedef. 2008-07-15ide: remove IDE_TFLAG_NO_SELECT_MASK taskfile flagBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
Always call SELECT_MASK(..., 0) in ide_tf_load() (needs to be done to match ide_set_irq(..., 1)) and then remove IDE_TFLAG_NO_SELECT_MASK taskfile flag. This change should only affect hpt366 and icside host drivers since ->maskproc(..., 0) for sgiioc4 is equivalent to ide_set_irq(..., 1). 2008-07-15ide: remove ide_init_drive_cmdFUJITA Tomonori
ide_init_drive_cmd just calls blk_rq_init. This converts the users of ide_init_drive_cmd to use blk_rq_init directly and removes ide_init_drive_cmd. * Set REQ_PREEMPT request flag in ide_do_drive_cmd() users for ide_preempt and ide_head_wait action types. * Remove setting REQ_PREEMPT from ide_do_drive_cmd(). While at it: * Set 'where' variable outside ide_lock. This is a preparation for converting IDE to use blk_execute_rq(). There should be no functional changes caused by this patch.
