2014-12-11spi: bitbang: Let spi_bitbang_start() take a reference to masterAxel Lin
Many drivers that use bitbang library have a leak on probe error paths. This is because once a spi_master_get() call succeeds, we need an additional spi_master_put() call to free the memory. Fix this issue by moving the code taking a reference to master to spi_bitbang_start(), so spi_bitbang_start() will take a reference to master on success. With this change, the caller is responsible for calling spi_bitbang_stop() to decrement the reference and spi_master_put() as counterpart of spi_alloc_master() to prevent a memory leak. So now we have below patten for drivers using bitbang library: probe: spi_alloc_master -> Init reference count to 1 spi_bitbang_start -> Increment reference count remove: spi_bitbang_stop -> Decrement reference count spi_master_put -> Decrement reference count (reference count reaches 0) Fixup all users accordingly. 2013-11-11powerpc: add missing explicit OF includes for ppcRob Herring
Commit b5b4bb3f6a11f9 (of: only include prom.h on sparc) removed implicit includes of of_*.h headers by powerpc's prom.h. Some components were missed in initial clean-up patch, so add the necessary includes to fix powerpc builds. 2013-02-13gpio: Make of_count_named_gpios() use new of_count_phandle_with_args()Grant Likely
This patch replaces the horribly coded of_count_named_gpios() with a call to of_count_phandle_with_args() which is far more efficient. This also changes the return value of of_gpio_count() & of_gpio_named_count() from 'unsigned int' to 'int' so that it can return an error code. All the users of that function are fixed up to correctly handle a negative return value. v2: Split GPIO portion into a separate patch Tested-by: Andreas Larsson <andreas@gaisler.com> Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Cc: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org> Cc: Rob Herring <rob.herring@calxeda.com>
2013-02-05spi: Remove erroneous __init, __exit and __exit_p() references in driversGrant Likely
Some of the spi driver module remove hooks were annotated with __exit and referenced with __exit_p(). Presumably these were supposed to be __devinit, __devexit and __devexit_p() since __init/__exit for a probe/remove hook has never been correct. They also got missed during the big __devinit/__devexit purge since they didn't match the pattern. Remove then now to be rid of it. v2: purge __init also Reported-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> [Arnd set a patch cleaning up one, and then I found more] Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>

2012-05-20spi: By default setup spi_masters with 1 chipselect and dynamics bus numberGrant Likely
Trivial simplification. Instead of requiring spi master drivers to always set the bus number (even when a dynamic number is desired), this patch modifies spi_alloc_master() to initialize num_chipselect to 1 (because there will always be at least one CS) and bus_num to -1 for dynamic allocation. This simplifies the code needed to be written for drivers. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2012-04-13spi/devicetree: Move devicetree support code into spi directoryGrant Likely
The SPI device tree support code isn't shared by any other subsystem. It can be moved into the core drivers/spi directory and the exported symbol can be removed. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Cc: Rob Herring <rob.herring@calxeda.com>
2011-10-24drivercore: Add helper macro for platform_driver boilerplateGrant Likely
For simple modules that contain a single platform_driver without any additional setup code then ends up being a block of duplicated boilerplate. This patch adds a new macro, module_platform_driver(), which replaces the module_init()/module_exit() registrations with template functions. 2011-10-24spi: irq: Remove IRQF_DISABLEDYong Zhang
Since commit [e58aa3d2: genirq: Run irq handlers with interrupts disabled], We run all interrupt handlers with interrupts disabled and we even check and yell when an interrupt handler returns with interrupts enabled (see commit [b738a50a: genirq: Warn when handler enables interrupts]). 2011-06-06spi: reorganize driversGrant Likely
Sort the SPI makefile and enforce the naming convention spi_*.c for spi drivers. This change also rolls the contents of atmel_spi.h into the .c file since there is only one user of that particular include file. v2: - Use 'spi-' prefix instead of 'spi_' to match what seems to be be the predominant pattern for subsystem prefixes. - Clean up filenames in Kconfig and header comment blocks Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Acked-by: Wolfram Sang <w.sang@pengutronix.de> Acked-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
