2008-08-02[ARM] move include/asm-arm to arch/arm/include/asmRussell King
Move platform independent header files to arch/arm/include/asm, leaving those in asm/arch* and asm/plat* alone. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-06-26arm: convert to generic helpers for IPI function callsJens Axboe
This converts arm to use the new helpers for smp_call_function() and friends, and adds support for smp_call_function_single(). Fixups and testing done by Catalin Marinas <catalin.marinas@arm.com> Cc: Russell King <rmk@arm.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2008-02-04[ARM] 4814/1: RealView: Add broadcasting clockevents support for ARM11MPCoreCatalin Marinas
This patch adds dummy local timers for each CPU so that the board clock device is used to broadcast events to the other CPUs. The patch also adds the declaration for the dummy_timer_setup function (the equivalent of local_timer_setup when CONFIG_LOCAL_TIMERS is not set). Due to the way clockevents work, the dummy timer on the first CPU has to be registered before the board timer. 2008-02-04[ARM] 4813/1: Add SMP helper functions for clockevents supportCatalin Marinas
This patch adds the smp_call_function_single and smp_timer_broadcast functions and modifies ipi_timer to call the platform-specific function local_timer_interrupt. Signed-off-by: Catalin Marinas <catalin.marinas@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2006-02-16[ARM] Fix SMP initialisation oopsRussell King
A change to the SMP initialisation caused the following oops: CPU1: Booted secondary processor CPU1: D VIPT write-back cache CPU1: I cache: 32768 bytes, associativity 4, 32 byte lines, 256 sets CPU1: D cache: 32768 bytes, associativity 4, 32 byte lines, 256 sets <7>Calibrating delay loop... 83.14 BogoMIPS (lpj=415744) <1>Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000001c ... PC is at enqueue_task+0x1c/0x64 LR is at activate_task+0xcc/0xe4 SMP initialisation now requires cpu_possible_map to be initialised in setup_arch(). Move this from smp_prepare_cpus() to smp_init_cpus() and call it from our setup_arch() if CONFIG_SMP is enabled. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-11-08[ARM SMP] Add core ARM support for local timersRussell King
Add infrastructure for supporting per-cpu local timers to update the profiling information and update system time accounting. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-11-08[ARM] Declare asm entry points in asm/smp.hRussell King
Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-11-08[ARM SMP] Add missing SMP timer handling for realviewRussell King
Until we have local timer support, we need to broadcast the timer interrupt to the other CPUs. Also, add the missing smp_send_timer() prototype to asm/smp.h Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-11-02[ARM SMP] Add hotplug CPU infrastructureRussell King
This patch adds the infrastructure to support hotplug CPU on ARM platforms. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-07-11[PATCH] ARM SMP: Rename cpu_present_mask to cpu_possible_mapRussell King
The kernel's terminology for this is cpu_possible_map not cpu_present_mask. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-06-22[PATCH] smp_processor_id() cleanupIngo Molnar
This patch implements a number of smp_processor_id() cleanup ideas that Arjan van de Ven and I came up with. The previous __smp_processor_id/_smp_processor_id/smp_processor_id API spaghetti was hard to follow both on the implementational and on the usage side. Some of the complexity arose from picking wrong names, some of the complexity comes from the fact that not all architectures defined __smp_processor_id. In the new code, there are two externally visible symbols: - smp_processor_id(): debug variant. - raw_smp_processor_id(): nondebug variant. Replaces all existing uses of _smp_processor_id() and __smp_processor_id(). Defined by every SMP architecture in include/asm-*/smp.h. There is one new internal symbol, dependent on DEBUG_PREEMPT: - debug_smp_processor_id(): internal debug variant, mapped to smp_processor_id(). Also, i moved debug_smp_processor_id() from lib/kernel_lock.c into a new lib/smp_processor_id.c file. All related comments got updated and/or clarified. I have build/boot tested the following 8 .config combinations on x86: {SMP,UP} x {PREEMPT,!PREEMPT} x {DEBUG_PREEMPT,!DEBUG_PREEMPT} I have also build/boot tested x64 on UP/PREEMPT/DEBUG_PREEMPT. (Other architectures are untested, but should work just fine.) 2005-06-18[PATCH] ARM SMP: Add support for startup of secondary processorsRussell King
Create a temporary page table to startup secondary processors. This page table must have a 1:1 virtual/physical mapping for the kernel in addition to the standard mappings to ensure that the secondary CPU can enable its MMU safely. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
