2016-06-16locking/atomic: Remove linux/atomic.h:atomic_fetch_or()Peter Zijlstra
Since all architectures have this implemented now natively, remove this dead code. 2016-06-16locking/atomic, arch/mn10300: Implement atomic_fetch_{add,sub,and,or,xor}()Peter Zijlstra
Implement FETCH-OP atomic primitives, these are very similar to the existing OP-RETURN primitives we already have, except they return the value of the atomic variable _before_ modification. This is especially useful for irreversible operations -- such as bitops (because it becomes impossible to reconstruct the state prior to modification). 2015-09-23atomic, arch: Audit atomic_{read,set}()Peter Zijlstra
This patch makes sure that atomic_{read,set}() are at least {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(). We already had the 'requirement' that atomic_read() should use ACCESS_ONCE(), and most archs had this, but a few were lacking. All are now converted to use READ_ONCE(). And, by a symmetry and general paranoia argument, upgrade atomic_set() to use WRITE_ONCE(). 2015-07-27atomic: Collapse all atomic_{set,clear}_mask definitionsPeter Zijlstra
Move the now generic definitions of atomic_{set,clear}_mask() into linux/atomic.h to avoid endless and pointless repetition. Also, provide an atomic_andnot() wrapper for those few archs that can implement that. Signed-off-by: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>
2015-07-27atomic: Provide atomic_{or,xor,and}Peter Zijlstra
Implement atomic logic ops -- atomic_{or,xor,and}. These will replace the atomic_{set,clear}_mask functions that are available on some archs. Signed-off-by: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>

2014-08-14locking,arch,mn10300: Fold atomic_opsPeter Zijlstra
Many of the atomic op implementations are the same except for one instruction; fold the lot into a few CPP macros and reduce LoC. This also prepares for easy addition of new ops. 2014-04-18arch,mn10300: Convert smp_mb__*()Peter Zijlstra
mn10300 fully relies on asm-generic/barrier.h and therefore its smp_mb() is barrier(). We can use the default implementation. Signed-off-by: Peter Zijlstra <peterz@infradead.org> Acked-by: Paul E. 2011-07-26atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusionArun Sharma
After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain: linux/atomic.h -> asm/atomic.h -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h. Archs that need <asm-generic/atomic64.h> need to select CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it unconditionally). Compile tested on i386 and x86_64 with allnoconfig. 2011-07-26atomic: use <linux/atomic.h>Arun Sharma

2011-03-14MN10300: atomic_read() should ensure it emits a loadDavid Howells
atomic_read() needs to ensure that it emits a load (which it can do by using ACCESS_ONCE()). Reported-by: Peter Zijlstra <peterz@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com>
2010-10-27MN10300: Implement atomic ops using atomic ops unitMark Salter
Implement atomic ops using the atomic ops unit available in the AM34 CPU. This allows the equivalent of the LL/SC instructions to be found on other CPUs. Signed-off-by: Mark Salter <msalter@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com>
2010-05-25mn10300: use generic atomic.hMathieu Desnoyers
asm-generic/atomic.h has been derived from the mn10300 implementation. Remove the now duplicated mn10300 implementation by including the generic version instead. This adds cmpxchg_local() and cmpxchg64_local() for free to the architecture, as they are implemented in asm-generic/atomic.h. 2009-06-11asm-generic: rename atomic.h to atomic-long.hArnd Bergmann
The existing asm-generic/atomic.h only defines the atomic_long type. This renames it to atomic-long.h so we have a place to add a truly generic atomic.h that can be used on all non-SMP systems.
