2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Enable Intel i40e on 64 bit configsAnton Blanchard
We are starting to see i40e adapters in recent machines, so enable it in our configs. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Change a few things from built in to modulesAnton Blanchard
Change a few devices and filesystems that are seldom used any more from built in to modules. This reduces our vmlinux about 500kB. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Bump kernel ring buffer size on 64 bit configsAnton Blanchard
When we issue a system reset, every CPU in the box prints an Oops, including a backtrace. Each of these can be quite large (over 4kB) and we may end up wrapping the ring buffer and losing important information. Bump the base size from 128kB to 256kB and the per CPU size from 4kB to 8kB. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Enable VMX cryptoAnton Blanchard
We see big improvements with the VMX crypto functions (often 10x or more), so enable it as a module. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-07-15powerpc/pseries: Auto-online hotplugged memoryNathan Fontenot
A recent update (commit id 31bc3858ea3) allows for automatically onlining memory that is added. This patch sets the config option CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_DEFAULT_ONLINE=y for pseries and updates the pseries memory hotplug code so that DLPAR added memory can be automatically onlined instead of explicitly onlining the memory. Signed-off-by: Nathan Fontenot <nfont@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-07-08powerpc/configs: Remove old symbols from defconfigsAndrew Donnellan
Update defconfigs to remove old symbols and comments referencing old symbols. Dropped: * AVERAGE * INET_LRO * EXT3_DEFAULTS_TO_ORDERED * EXT3_FS_XATTR * I2O * INFINIBAND_AMSO1100 * INFINIBAND_EHCA * IP1000 Replaced: * BLK_DEV_XIP -> BLK_DEV_RAM_DAX * CLK_PPC_CORENET -> CLK_QORIQ * EXT2_FS_XIP -> FS_DAX * EXT3_FS* -> EXT4_FS* Signed-off-by: Andrew Donnellan <andrew.donnellan@au1.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2015-09-29powerpc/configs: Re-enable CONFIG_SCSI_DHMichael Ellerman
Commit 086b91d052eb ("scsi_dh: integrate into the core SCSI code") changed CONFIG_SCSI_DH from tristate to bool. Our defconfigs have CONFIG_SCSI_DH=m, which the kconfig machinery warns us is invalid, but instead of converting it to =y it leaves it unset. This means we loose the CONFIG_SCSI_DH code and everything that depends on it. So convert the values in the defconfigs to =y. Fixes: 086b91d052eb ("scsi_dh: integrate into the core SCSI code") Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2015-08-27powerpc/powernv: Enable LEDS supportVasant Hegde
Commit 84ad6e5c added LEDS support for PowerNV platform. Lets update ppc64_defconfig to pick LEDS driver. PowerNV LEDS driver looks for "/ibm,opal/leds" node in device tree and loads if this node exists. Hence added it as 'm'. Also note that powernv LEDS driver needs NEW_LEDS and LEDS_CLASS as well. Hence added them to config file. mpe: Also add them to pseries_defconfig, which is currently also used for powernv systems. 2015-08-18powerpc/pseries: enable RTC class supportVaibhav Jain
A working rtc kernel driver is needed so that hwclock can synchronize system clock to rtc during shutdown/boot. We already have a powernv platform rtc driver located at drivers/rtc/rtc-opal.c. However it depends on CONFIG_RTC_CLASS which is disabled by default. Hence the driver isn't enabled and not compiled for the powernv kernel. We fix this by enabling rtc class support in pseries defconfig which enables this driver and compiles it into the pseries kernel. In case CONFIG_PPC_POWERNV is not enabled we fallback to 'Generic RTC support' driver which emulates the legacy 'PC RTC driver'. 2015-06-02powerpc/configs: Merge pseries_defconfig and pseries_le_defconfigCyril Bur
These two configs should be identical with the exception of big or little endian. The big endian version has XMON_DEFAULT turned on while the little endian has XMON_DEFAULT not set. It makes the most sense for defconfigs not to use xmon by default, production systems should get back up as quickly as possible, not sit in xmon. In the event debugging is required, the option can be enabled or xmon=on can be specified on commandline. 2015-01-21powerpc: Enable KSM on pseries and ppc64 defconfigsAnton Blanchard
KSM will only be used on areas marked for merging via madvise, and it is showing nice improvements on KVM workloads, so enable it by default. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2015-01-21powerpc: Enable CONFIG_SATA_AHCI on pseries and ppc64 defconfigsAnton Blanchard

2015-01-20powerpc: Update all configs using savedefconfigMichael Ellerman
It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? The answer is that it can be confusing when the stored defconfig drifts too far from the generated result. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2014-11-30netpoll: delete defconfig references to obsolete NETPOLL_TRAPPaul Gortmaker
In commit 9c62a68d13119a1ca9718381d97b0cb415ff4e9d ("netpoll: Remove dead packet receive code (CONFIG_NETPOLL_TRAP)") this Kconfig option was removed. 2014-09-24powerpc: Set CONFIG_NET=y in defconfigsMichal Marek
Commit 5d6be6a5 ("scsi_netlink : Make SCSI_NETLINK dependent on NET instead of selecting NET") removed what happened to be the only instance of 'select NET'. Defconfigs that were relying on the select now lack networking support. 2014-09-09powerpc: Make CONFIG_FHANDLE=y for all 64 bit powerpc defconfigsCyril Bur
CONFIG_FHANDLE is a requirement for systemd and with the increasing uptake of systemd within distros it makes sense for 64 bit defconfigs to include it. Signed-off-by: Cyril Bur <cyril.bur@au1.ibm.com>

2014-03-23powerpc: Use default set of netfilter modules (CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n)Anton Blanchard
Our netfilter options are stale and important things like masquerading are no longer enabled. Instead of trying to keep up with any updates, set CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n on ppc64* and pseries* defconfigs. This enables the most common netfilter modules for us. While here, enable the network bridge module which is heavily used in KVM setups. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

2012-09-17powerpc: Add denormalisation exception handling for POWER6/7Michael Neuling
On POWER6 and POWER7 if the input operand to an instruction is a denormalised single precision binary floating point value we can take a denormalisation exception where it's expected that the hypervisor (HV=1) will fix up the inputs before the instruction is run. This adds code to handle this denormalisation exception for POWER6 and POWER7. It also add a CONFIG_PPC_DENORMALISATION option and sets it in pseries/ppc64_defconfig. This is useful on bare metal systems only. Based on patch from Milton Miller. Signed-off-by: Michael Neuling <mikey@neuling.org> Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
2012-08-01powerpc/crypto: rework KconfigSeth Jennings
This patch creates a new submenu for the NX cryptographic hardware accelerator and breaks the NX options into their own Kconfig file under drivers/crypto/nx/Kconfig. 2012-07-03powerpc: Enable jump label supportAnton Blanchard
When looking through some instruction traces I noticed our tracepoint checks were inline. It turns out we don't have CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL enabled. By enabling CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL we replace a load/compare/branch with a nop at every tracepoint call. For example in do_IRQ: CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL disabled: stdx 3,11,9 lwz 0,8(29) cmpwi 7,0,0 bne- 7,.L124 bl .irq_enter CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL enabled: stdx 3,11,9 nop bl .irq_enter Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

2011-05-27cgroup: remove the ns_cgroupDaniel Lezcano
The ns_cgroup is an annoying cgroup at the namespace / cgroup frontier and leads to some problems: * cgroup creation is out-of-control * cgroup name can conflict when pids are looping * it is not possible to have a single process handling a lot of namespaces without falling in a exponential creation time * we may want to create a namespace without creating a cgroup The ns_cgroup was replaced by a compatibility flag 'clone_children', where a newly created cgroup will copy the parent cgroup values. The userspace has to manually create a cgroup and add a task to the 'tasks' file. This patch removes the ns_cgroup as suggested in the following thread: https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/containers/2009-June/018616.html The 'cgroup_clone' function is removed because it is no longer used. This is a userspace-visible change. Commit 45531757b45c ("cgroup: notify ns_cgroup deprecated") (merged into 2.6.27) caused the kernel to emit a printk warning users that the feature is planned for removal.
