2013-01-03POWERPC: drivers: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells: "Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion dependencies. I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis." Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat weakened by that. We'll find out anything that got broken and fix it.. * tag 'split-asm_system_h-for-linus-20120328' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system: (38 commits) Delete all instances of asm/system.h Remove all #inclusions of asm/system.h Add #includes needed to permit the removal of asm/system.h Move all declarations of free_initmem() to linux/mm.h Disintegrate asm/system.h for OpenRISC Split arch_align_stack() out from asm-generic/system.h Split the switch_to() wrapper out of asm-generic/system.h Move the asm-generic/system.h xchg() implementation to asm-generic/cmpxchg.h Create asm-generic/barrier.h Make asm-generic/cmpxchg.h #include asm-generic/cmpxchg-local.h Disintegrate asm/system.h for Xtensa Disintegrate asm/system.h for Unicore32 [based on ver #3, changed by gxt] Disintegrate asm/system.h for Tile Disintegrate asm/system.h for Sparc Disintegrate asm/system.h for SH Disintegrate asm/system.h for Score Disintegrate asm/system.h for S390 Disintegrate asm/system.h for PowerPC Disintegrate asm/system.h for PA-RISC Disintegrate asm/system.h for MN10300 ...

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jbarnes/pci Pull PCI changes (including maintainer change) from Jesse Barnes: "This pull has some good cleanups from Bjorn and Yinghai, as well as some more code from Yinghai to better handle resource re-allocation when enabled. There's also a new initcall_debug feature from Arjan which will print out quirk timing information to help identify slow quirks for fixing or refinement (Yinghai sent in a few patches to do just that once the new debug code landed). Beyond that, I'm handing off PCI maintainership to Bjorn Helgaas. He's been a core PCI and Linux contributor for some time now, and has kindly volunteered to take over. I just don't feel I have the time for PCI review and work that it deserves lately (I've taken on some other projects), and haven't been as responsive lately as I'd like, so I approached Bjorn asking if he'd like to manage things. He's going to give it a try, and I'm confident he'll do at least as well as I have in keeping the tree managed, patches flowing, and keeping things stable." 2012-02-24powerpc/PCI: replace pci_probe_only with pci_flagsBjorn Helgaas
We already use pci_flags, so this just sets pci_flags directly and removes the intermediate step of figuring out pci_probe_only, then using it to set pci_flags. The PCI core provides a pci_flags definition (currently __weak), so drop the powerpc definitions in favor of that. 2012-02-22powerpc/mpic: Remove duplicate MPIC_WANTS_RESET flagKyle Moffett
There are two separate flags controlling whether or not the MPIC is reset during initialization, which is completely unnecessary, and only one of them can be specified in the device tree. Also, most platforms in-tree right now do actually want to reset the MPIC during initialization anyways, which means lots of duplicate code passing the MPIC_WANTS_RESET flag. Fix all of the callers which currently do not pass the MPIC_WANTS_RESET flag to pass the MPIC_NO_RESET flag, then remove the MPIC_WANTS_RESET flag and make the code reset the MPIC by default. 2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. 2009-03-11powerpc/kconfig: Kill PPC_MULTIPLATFORMBenjamin Herrenschmidt
CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM is a remain of the pre-powerpc days and isn't really meaningful anymore. It was basically equivalent to PPC64 || 6xx. This removes it along with the following changes: - 32-bit platforms that relied on PPC32 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now rely on 6xx which is what they want anyway. - A new symbol, PPC_BOOK3S, is defined that represent compliance with the "Server" variant of the architecture. This is set when either 6xx or PPC64 is set and open the door for future BOOK3E 64-bit. - 64-bit platforms that relied on PPC64 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now use PPC64 && PPC_BOOK3S - A separate and selectable CONFIG_PPC_OF_BOOT_TRAMPOLINE option is now used to control the use of prom_init.c Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

2007-08-17[POWERPC] Remove gratuitous reads from maple PCI config space methodsNathan Lynch
The maple PCI configuration space write methods read the written location immediately after the write is performed, presumably in order to flush the write. However, configuration space writes are not allowed to be posted, making these reads gratuitous. Furthermore, this behavior potentially causes us to violate the PCI PM spec when changing between e.g. D0 and D3 states, because a delay of up to 10ms may be required before the OS accesses configuration space after the write which initiates the transition. It definitely causes a system hang for me with a Broadcom 5721 PCIE network adapter, which is fixed by this change. Therefore this removes the gratuitous reads from u3_agp_write_config, u3_ht_write_config, and u4_pcie_write_config. 2007-06-14[POWERPC] Rewrite IO allocation & mapping on powerpc64Benjamin Herrenschmidt
This rewrites pretty much from scratch the handling of MMIO and PIO space allocations on powerpc64. The main goals are: - Get rid of imalloc and use more common code where possible - Simplify the current mess so that PIO space is allocated and mapped in a single place for PCI bridges - Handle allocation constraints of PIO for all bridges including hot plugged ones within the 2GB space reserved for IO ports, so that devices on hotplugged busses will now work with drivers that assume IO ports fit in an int. - Cleanup and separate tracking of the ISA space in the reserved low 64K of IO space. No ISA -> Nothing mapped there. I booted a cell blade with IDE on PIO and MMIO and a dual G5 so far, that's it :-) With this patch, all allocations are done using the code in mm/vmalloc.c, though we use the low level __get_vm_area with explicit start/stop constraints in order to manage separate areas for vmalloc/vmap, ioremap, and PCI IOs. This greatly simplifies a lot of things, as you can see in the diffstat of that patch :-) A new pair of functions pcibios_map/unmap_io_space() now replace all of the previous code that used to manipulate PCI IOs space. The allocation is done at mapping time, which is now called from scan_phb's, just before the devices are probed (instead of after, which is by itself a bug fix). The only other caller is the PCI hotplug code for hot adding PCI-PCI bridges (slots). imalloc is gone, as is the "sub-allocation" thing, but I do beleive that hotplug should still work in the sense that the space allocation is always done by the PHB, but if you unmap a child bus of this PHB (which seems to be possible), then the code should properly tear down all the HPTE mappings for that area of the PHB allocated IO space. I now always reserve the first 64K of IO space for the bridge with the ISA bus on it. I have moved the code for tracking ISA in a separate file which should also make it smarter if we ever are capable of hot unplugging or re-plugging an ISA bridge. This should have a side effect on platforms like powermac where VGA IOs will no longer work. This is done on purpose though as they would have worked semi-randomly before. The idea at this point is to isolate drivers that might need to access those and fix them by providing a proper function to obtain an offset to the legacy IOs of a given bus. Moved pseries, iseries, chrp, prep, maple and pasemi into their respective arch/powerpc/platform/*/Kconfig files out of arch/powerpc/Kconfig Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-02-07[POWERPC] Maple: use mmio nvramNathan Lynch
Some systems supported by the maple platform (e.g. JS2x blades running SLOF) are able to use the mmio_nvram backend for reading and writing nvram. This is an improvement over the current situation -- no nvram access from userspace at all. Select MMIO_NVRAM for the maple platform. Initialize the mmio_nvram backend from maple setup code. 2007-02-07[POWERPC] Maple: don't override bus-range supplied by firmwareNathan Lynch
This workaround was copy-pasted from the powermac code. It's not necessary for maple. Signed-off-by: Nathan Lynch <ntl@pobox.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2007-01-24[POWERPC] maple: improve CPC9x5 host bridge detectionNathan Lynch
Identify CPC9x5 PCI Express, AGP, and HT host bridges using device_type and compatible properties, which is a more flexible method than using the name property (which can differ between firmwares and models). 2007-01-09[POWERPC] Fix unbalanced uses of of_node_putNathan Lynch
The (maple|pasemi)_init_IRQ functions call of_node_put(root) once more than they should, causing the refcount of the root node to underflow, which triggers the WARN_ON in kref_get. 2006-12-08[POWERPC] maple: Use RTAS for reboot and haltNathan Lynch
On maple, use the RTAS "system-reboot" and "power-off" methods if they are available. Signed-off-by: Nathan Lynch <ntl@pobox.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-12-08[POWERPC] maple: Match "pcie" name for CPC945Nathan Lynch
Some firmwares have "pcie" for the "name" property of the CPC945 PCI Express host bridge. Check for "pcie" in addition to "pci" so we don't miss it. Signed-off-by: Nathan Lynch <ntl@pobox.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-12-04[POWERPC] Make pci_read_irq_line the defaultBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch reworks the way IRQs are fixed up on PCI for arch powerpc. It makes pci_read_irq_line() called by default in the PCI code for devices that are probed, and add an optional per-device fixup in ppc_md for platforms that really need to correct what they obtain from pci_read_irq_line(). It also removes ppc_md.irq_bus_setup which was only used by pSeries and should not be needed anymore. I've also removed the pSeries s7a workaround as it can't work with the current interrupt code anyway. I'm trying to get one of these machines working so I can test a proper fix for that problem. I also haven't updated the old-style fixup code from 85xx_cds.c because it's actually buggy :) It assigns pci_dev->irq hard coded numbers which is no good with the new IRQ mapping code. It should at least use irq_create_mapping(NULL, hard_coded_number); and possibly also set_irq_type() to set them as level low. 2006-10-10[POWERPC] Fix Maple secondary IDE interruptBenjamin Herrenschmidt
The IDE driver will pick up the PCI IRQ for both channels on Maple despite the fact that it's in legacy mode. This works around it by "hiding" the PCI IRQ of the AMD8111 IDE controller when it's configured in legacy mode on the Maple platform, thus causing the driver to call pci_get_legacy_ide_irq() which will return the correct interrupts for both channels. 2006-10-10[POWERPC] Make U4 PCIe work on mapleBenjamin Herrenschmidt
The Maple support code was missing code for U4/CPC945 PCIe. This adds it, enabling it to work on tigerwood boards, and possibly also js21 using SLOF. Also disable an obsolete firmware workaround.
