2014-03-31drm/i915: prefer struct drm_i915_private to drm_i915_private_tJani Nikula
Remove the rest of the references to drm_i915_private_t. No functional changes. Signed-off-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> [danvet: Drop hunk in i915_cmd_parser.c] Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>

2013-08-09drm/i915: Remove i915_gem_object_check_coherency()Damien Lespiau
This code was dead since: commit 432e58edc9de1d9c3d6a7b444b3c455b8f209a7d Author: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Date: Thu Nov 25 19:32:06 2010 +0000 drm/i915: Avoid allocation for execbuffer object list so just put it to rest for good. 2013-07-17drm/i915: Move active/inactive lists to new mmBen Widawsky
Shamelessly manipulated out of Daniel :-) "When moving the lists around explain that the active/inactive stuff is used by eviction when we run out of address space, so needs to be per-vma and per-address space. Bound/unbound otoh is used by the shrinker which only cares about the amount of memory used and not one bit about in which address space this memory is all used in. Of course to actual kick out an object we need to unbind it from every address space, but for that we have the per-object list of vmas." v2: Leave the bound list as a global one. (Chris, indirectly) v3: Rebased with no i915_gtt_vm. In most places I added a new *vm local, since it will eventually be replaces by a vm argument. Put comment back inline, since it no longer makes sense to do otherwise. v4: Rebased on hangcheck/error state movement Signed-off-by: Ben Widawsky <ben@bwidawsk.net> Reviewed-by: Imre Deak <imre.deak@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>

2012-10-02UAPI: (Scripted) Remove redundant DRM UAPI header #inclusions from drivers/gpu/.David Howells
Remove redundant DRM UAPI header #inclusions from drivers/gpu/. Remove redundant #inclusions of core DRM UAPI headers (drm.h, drm_mode.h and drm_sarea.h). They are now #included via drmP.h and drm_crtc.h via a preceding patch. Without this patch and the patch to make include the UAPI headers from the core headers, after the UAPI split, the DRM C sources cannot find these UAPI headers because the DRM code relies on specific -I flags to make #include "..." work on headers in include/drm/ - but that does not work after the UAPI split without adding more -I flags. 2012-06-12drm/i915: stop using dev->agp->baseDaniel Vetter
For that to work we need to export the base address of the gtt mmio window from intel-gtt. Also replace all other uses of dev->agp by values we already have at hand. Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>
2012-05-03drm/i915: Remove the list of pinned inactive objectsChris Wilson
Simplify object tracking by removing the inactive but pinned list. The only place where this was used is for counting the available memory, which is just as easy performed by checking all objects on the rare occasions it is required (application startup). For ease of debugging, we keep the reporting of pinned objects through the error-state and debugfs. 2011-02-07drm/i915: Refine tracepointsChris Wilson
A lot of minor tweaks to fix the tracepoints, improve the outputting for ftrace, and to generally make the tracepoints useful again. It is a start and enough to begin identifying performance issues and gaps in our coverage. Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk>

2009-04-01drm/i915: Add a spinlock to protect the active_listCarl Worth
This is a baby-step in the direction of having finer-grained locking than the struct_mutex. Specifically, this will enable new debugging code to read the active list for printing out GPU state when the GPU is wedged, (while the struct_mutex is held, of course). 2008-10-17drm: Add GEM ("graphics execution manager") to i915 driver.Eric Anholt
GEM allows the creation of persistent buffer objects accessible by the graphics device through new ioctls for managing execution of commands on the device. The userland API is almost entirely driver-specific to ensure that any driver building on this model can easily map the interface to individual driver requirements. GEM is used by the 2d driver for managing its internal state allocations and will be used for pixmap storage to reduce memory consumption and enable zero-copy GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap, and in the 3d driver is used to enable GL_EXT_framebuffer_object and GL_ARB_pixel_buffer_object.
