2016-05-05mtd: nand: jz4740: switch to mtd_ooblayout_opsBoris Brezillon
Implementing the mtd_ooblayout_ops interface is the new way of exposing ECC/OOB layout to MTD users. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Acked-by: Lars-Peter Clausen <lars@metafoo.de>
2016-01-26mtd: nand: jz4740: kill the ->ecc_layout fieldBoris BREZILLON
->ecc_layout is not used by any board file. Kill this field to avoid any confusion. New boards are encouraged to use the default ECC layout defined in NAND core. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2016-01-07mtd: nand: jz4740: remove custom 'erased check' implementationBoris BREZILLON
The jz4740 driver is manually checking for 'erased pages' while correcting ECC bytes. This logic can now done by the core infrastructure, and can thus be removed from this driver. 2016-01-07mtd: nand: return consistent error codes in ecc.correct() implementationsBoris BREZILLON
The error code returned by the ecc.correct() are not consistent over the all implementations. Document the expected behavior in include/linux/mtd/nand.h and fix offending implementations. [Brian: this looks like a bugfix for the ECC reporting in the bf5xx_nand driver, but we haven't seen any testing results for it] Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Tested-by: Franklin S Cooper Jr. <fcooper@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-12-18mtd: nand: remove useless mtd->priv = chip assignmentsBoris BREZILLON
mtd_to_nand() now uses the container_of() approach to transform an mtd_info pointer into a nand_chip one. Drop useless mtd->priv assignments from NAND controller drivers. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-12-18mtd: nand: jz4740: use the mtd instance embedded in struct nand_chipBoris BREZILLON
struct nand_chip now embeds an mtd device. Make use of this mtd instance. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-12-08mtd: nand: make use of mtd_to_nand() in NAND driversBoris BREZILLON
mtd_to_nand() was recently introduced to avoid direct accesses to the mtd->priv field. Update all NAND drivers to use it. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>

2013-08-05mtd: nand: jz4740_nand: remove unnecessary platform_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han
The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure, since commit 0998d0631001288a5974afc0b2a5f568bcdecb4d (device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound). Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. 2013-01-03Drivers: mtd: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. 2012-11-22mtd: fix a number of checkpatch complaintsArtem Bityutskiy
While checking the "__devinit" removal patches with checkpatch.pl, I noticed several warnings related to a space between the function name and '(', as well as long lines. I fixed the warnings up in this patch. Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com>

2012-07-23MTD: NAND: JZ4740: Multi-bank support with autodetectionMaarten ter Huurne
The platform data can now specify which external memory banks to probe for NAND chips, and in which order. Banks that contain a NAND are used and the other banks are freed. Squashed version of development done in jz-2.6.38 branch. Original patch by Lars-Peter Clausen with some bug fixes from me. Thanks to Paul Cercueil for the initial autodetection patch. 2012-05-14mtd: nand: fix incorrect ecc strength valuesMike Dunn
This fixes a couple of ecc strength values for which I earlier made conservative guesses, but whose correct values were later determined¹ (thanks Ivan). Also sets strength for fsl_ifc_nand, which was merged to mainline after the original patch that set the strength for all drivers. ¹ http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-mtd/2012-March/040325.html Signed-off-by: Mike Dunn <mikedunn@newsguy.com> Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <artem.bityutskiy@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <David.Woodhouse@intel.com>
2012-03-26mtd: flash drivers set ecc strengthMike Dunn
Flash device drivers initialize 'ecc_strength' in struct mtd_info, which is the maximum number of bit errors that can be corrected in one writesize region. Drivers using the nand interface intitialize 'strength' in struct nand_ecc_ctrl, which is the maximum number of bit errors that can be corrected in one ecc step. Nand infrastructure code translates this to 'ecc_strength'. Also for nand drivers, the nand infrastructure code sets ecc.strength for ecc modes NAND_ECC_SOFT, NAND_ECC_SOFT_BCH, and NAND_ECC_NONE. It is set in the driver for all other modes. 2012-03-26mtd: do not use plain 0 as NULLArtem Bityutskiy
The first 3 arguments of 'mtd_device_parse_register()' are pointers, but many callers pass '0' instead of 'NULL'. Fix this globally. 2011-09-11mtd: jz4740_nand.c: use mtd_device_parse_registerDmitry Eremin-Solenikov

2010-12-03mtd: NAND: jz4740: Remove custom {read,write}_page handlersLars-Peter Clausen
Now that the mtd core supports more then 64 ecc bytes we can use it instead of some a custom hack in the jz4740 nand driver. This patch removes the custom {read,write}_page handlers from the jz4740 nand driver. Thus the driver will now fallback to the default handlers from the nand core.
