2012-09-13Merge branch 'ofdeviceiddata' of git://git.pengutronix.de/git/ukl/linux into ↵Olof Johansson
next/fixes-non-critical From "Uwe Kleine-König" <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de>: this is the 2nd version of this series whose goal is to make struct of_device_id.data const. Conceptually a driver must not modify the data contained there so making it const is the right thing. v1 of this series was sent with Message-id: 1342182734-321-1-git-send-email-y. Changes since then are: - powerpc fixes - several new consts that were found by Arnd that are possible after patch 19. Arnd suggested to take this series via arm-soc late for 3.6 in one go because patch 19 depends on the former patches but is a precondition to the latter and it fixes a few warnings. So getting it in via the respective maintainer trees would need a much bigger coordination effort. That means I prefer getting Acks over you taking the patch. Vinod Koul already took dmaengine: at_hdmac: add a few const qualifiers that is in next-20120723 as 7fd63ccdad72 now. Vinod, I don't follow your pull requests, but assuming you didn't let it already pull for 3.6 I suggest you drop it from your queue and I just take your Ack. This series was build tested for arm (all defconfigs) and powerpc (all defconfigs and an allyesconfig) and grep didn't find more issues. As before it introduces a warning in drivers/regulator/twl-regulator.c. This driver does modify its .of_match_table when a device is bound which doesn't fits the concept of independant devices. Arnd noticed another new warning in drivers/scsi/qlogicpti.c that isn't that easy to resolve, because the pointer to (now) const data is passed as first argument to scsi_host_alloc. To fix that properly struct Scsi_Host.hostt needs to get a const, too. Alternatively I could introduce a cast removing the const, but I don't like that. * 'ofdeviceiddata' of git://git.pengutronix.de/git/ukl/linux: (25 commits) dma: tegra: make data used as *of_device_id.data const can: mpc5xxx_can: make data used as *of_device_id.data const macintosh/mediabay: make data used as *of_device_id.data const i2c/mpc: make data used as *of_device_id.data const mfd/da9052: make i2c_device_id array const powerpc/fsl_msi: drop unneeded cast to non-const pointer gpio/gpio-omap: make platformdata used as *of_device_id.data const of: add const to struct *of_device_id.data dma: tegra: make tegra_dma.chip_data a pointer to const data watchdog/mpc8xxx: add a const qualifier powerpc/celleb_pci: add a const qualifier powerpc/fsl_msi: add a const qualifier powerpc/83xx: add a const qualifier macintosh/mediabay: add a const qualifier mmc/omap_hsmmc: add a const qualifier i2c/mpc: add a const qualifier i2c/i2c-omap: add a const qualifier gpio/mpc8xxx: add a const qualifier gpio/gpio-omap.c: add a const qualifier misc/atmel_tc: make atmel_tc.tcb_config member point to const data Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> [olof: repulled a v3 version of the branch that rebased to add some more acked-bys and added one more patch on top for tegra] Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>

2012-08-17spi/coldfire-qspi: Drop extra calls to spi_master_get in suspend/resume ↵Guenter Roeck
functions Suspend and resume functions call spi_master_get() without matching spi_master_put(). 2012-08-17spi: spi-coldfire-qspi: Drop extra spi_master_put in device remove functionGuenter Roeck
The call sequence spi_alloc_master/spi_register_master/spi_unregister_master is complete; it reduces the device reference count to zero, which and results in device memory being freed. The subsequent call to spi_master_put is unnecessary and results in an access to free memory. Drop it. 2012-08-17MIPS: BCM63xx: Fix SPI message control register handling for BCM6338/6348.Florian Fainelli
BCM6338 and BCM6348 have a message control register width of 8 bits, instead of 16-bits like what the SPI driver assumes right now. Also the SPI message type shift value of 14 is actually 6 for these SoCs. This resulted in transmit FIFO corruption because we were writing 16-bits to an 8-bits wide register, thus spanning on the first byte of the transmit FIFO, which had already been filed in bcm63xx_spi_fill_txrx_fifo(). Fix this by passing the message control register width and message type shift through platform data back to the SPI driver so that it can use it properly. 2012-08-13spi/bcm63xx: Ensure that memory is freed only after it is no longer usedGuenter Roeck
The call to spi_unregister_master() in the device remove function frees device memory, and with it any device local data. However, device local data is still accessed after the call to spi_unregister_master(). Acquire a reference to the SPI device and release it after cleanup is complete to solve the problem. 2012-08-10spi/s3c64xx: improve error handlingArnd Bergmann
When a device tree definition os an s3c64xx SPI master is missing a "controller-data" subnode, the newly added s3c64xx_get_slave_ctrldata function might use uninitialized memory in place of that node, which was correctly reported by gcc. Without this patch, building s3c6400_defconfig results in: drivers/spi/spi-s3c64xx.c: In function 's3c64xx_get_slave_ctrldata.isra.25': drivers/spi/spi-s3c64xx.c:841:5: warning: 'data_np' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wuninitialized] Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Acked-by: Thomas Abraham <thomas.abraham@linaro.org> Acked-by: Kukjin Kim <kgene.kim@samsung.com> Cc: Jaswinder Singh <jaswinder.singh@linaro.org> Cc: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2012-08-04spi: omap2-mcspi: Fix the error handling in probeShubhrajyoti D
The kfree() is taken care of by the spi core (spi_master_release() function) that is called once the last reference to the underlying struct device has been released. So the driver need not call kfree. Also the put was missed in some of the error handling fix the same. There by fixing the missing device_put in some of the error paths. 2012-08-01Merge branch 'dmaengine' of git://git.linaro.org/people/rmk/linux-armLinus Torvalds
Pull ARM DMA engine updates from Russell King: "This looks scary at first glance, but what it is is: - a rework of the sa11x0 DMA engine driver merged during the previous cycle, to extract a common set of helper functions for DMA engine implementations. - conversion of amba-pl08x.c to use these helper functions. - addition of OMAP DMA engine driver (using these helper functions), and conversion of some of the OMAP DMA users to use DMA engine. Nothing in the helper functions is ARM specific, so I hope that other implementations can consolidate some of their code by making use of these helpers. This has been sitting in linux-next most of the merge cycle, and has been tested by several OMAP folk. I've tested it on sa11x0 platforms, and given it my best shot on my broken platforms which have the amba-pl08x controller. The last point is the addition to feature-removal-schedule.txt, which will have a merge conflict. Between myself and TI, we're planning to remove the old TI DMA implementation next year." 2012-07-19spi/s3c64xx: Expand S3C64XX_SPI_{DE,}ACT macros at call sitesMark Brown

2012-07-19spi/s3c64xx: Put the /CS GPIO into output modeMark Brown
No call was being made by the GPIO driver to put the GPIO into output mode meaning that the calls to gpio_set_value() which were being done were not valid. A similar issue appears to exist with the DT GPIO requests but as they appear to be being used for pinmux it's less clear to me that we want to configure them. Without this fix Cragganmore systems can't talk to their SPI devices. Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com> Signed-off-by: Kukjin Kim <kgene.kim@samsung.com>
2012-07-19spi/s3c64xx: Fix handling of errors in gpio_request()Mark Brown
When gpio_request() fails the driver logged the failure but while it'd try to print an error code in the non-DT case it didn't pass the error code in so garbage would be logged and in the DT case the error wasn't logged. Further, in the non-DT case the error code was then overwritten with -EBUSY depriving the caller of information and breaking automatic probe deferral pushing back from the GPIO level. Also reformat the non-DT log message so it's not word wrapped and we can grep for it. Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com> Signed-off-by: Kukjin Kim <kgene.kim@samsung.com>
