2010-08-18remove SWRITE* I/O typesChristoph Hellwig
These flags aren't real I/O types, but tell ll_rw_block to always lock the buffer instead of giving up on a failed trylock. Instead add a new write_dirty_buffer helper that implements this semantic and use it from the existing SWRITE* callers. Note that the ll_rw_block code had a bug where it didn't promote WRITE_SYNC_PLUG properly, which this patch fixes. In the ufs code clean up the helper that used to call ll_rw_block to mirror sync_dirty_buffer, which is the function it implements for compound buffers. 2009-04-14jbd2: use SWRITE_SYNC_PLUG when writing synchronous revoke recordsTheodore Ts'o
The revoke records must be written using the same way as the rest of the blocks during the commit process; that is, either marked as synchronous writes or as asynchornous writes. Signed-off-by: "Theodore Ts'o" <tytso@mit.edu>
2009-03-27jbd2: Update locking comentsJan Kara

2008-04-17jbd2: eliminate duplicated code in revocation table init/destroy functionsDuane Griffin
The revocation table initialisation/destruction code is repeated for each of the two revocation tables stored in the journal. Refactoring the duplicated code into functions is tidier, simplifies the logic in initialisation in particular, and slightly reduces the code size. There should not be any functional change. 2008-04-28jbd2: tidy up revoke cache initialisation and destructionDuane Griffin
Make revocation cache destruction safe to call if initialisation fails partially or entirely. This allows it to be used to cleanup in the case of initialisation failure, simplifying the code slightly. 2008-01-29jbd2: Mark jbd2 slabs as SLAB_TEMPORARYMingming Cao
This patch marks slab allocations by jbd2 as short-lived in support of Mel Gorman's "Group short-lived and reclaimable kernel allocations" patch. (Ported from similar changes made to fs/jbd/journal.c and fs/jbd/revoke.c in Mel's patch.) 2007-07-20mm: Remove slab destructors from kmem_cache_create().Paul Mundt
Slab destructors were no longer supported after Christoph's c59def9f222d44bb7e2f0a559f2906191a0862d7 change. They've been BUGs for both slab and slub, and slob never supported them either. This rips out support for the dtor pointer from kmem_cache_create() completely and fixes up every single callsite in the kernel (there were about 224, not including the slab allocator definitions themselves, or the documentation references). Remove includes of <linux/smp_lock.h> where it is not used/needed. Suggested by Al Viro. Builds cleanly on x86_64, i386, alpha, ia64, powerpc, sparc, sparc64, and arm (all 59 defconfigs). 2006-12-07[PATCH] slab: remove kmem_cache_tChristoph Lameter
Replace all uses of kmem_cache_t with struct kmem_cache. The patch was generated using the following script: #!/bin/sh # # Replace one string by another in all the kernel sources. # set -e for file in `find * -name "*.c" -o -name "*.h"|xargs grep -l $1`; do quilt add $file sed -e "1,\$s/$1/$2/g" $file >/tmp/$$ mv /tmp/$$ $file quilt refresh done The script was run like this sh replace kmem_cache_t "struct kmem_cache" Signed-off-by: Christoph Lameter <clameter@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
