2013-09-23wext.h: Remove extern from function prototypesJoe Perches
There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for function prototypes. Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern. extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block. 2009-10-07wext: refactorJohannes Berg
Refactor wext to * split out iwpriv handling * split out iwspy handling * split out procfs support * allow cfg80211 to have wireless extensions compat code w/o CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT After this, drivers need to - select WIRELESS_EXT - for wext support - select WEXT_PRIV - for iwpriv support - select WEXT_SPY - for iwspy support except cfg80211 -- which gets new hooks in wext-core.c and can then get wext handlers without CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT. Wireless extensions procfs support is auto-selected based on PROC_FS and anything that requires the wext core (i.e. WIRELESS_EXT or CFG80211_WEXT). 2009-09-28wext: add back wireless/ dir in sysfs for cfg80211 interfacesJohannes Berg
The move away from having drivers assign wireless handlers, in favour of making cfg80211 assign them, broke the sysfs registration (the wireless/ dir went missing) because the handlers are now assigned only after registration, which is too late. Fix this by special-casing cfg80211-based devices, all of which are required to have an ieee80211_ptr, in the sysfs code, and also using get_wireless_stats() to have the same values reported as in procfs. 2008-06-17wext: Dispatch and handle compat ioctls entirely in net/wireless/wext.cDavid S. Miller
Next we can kill the hacks in fs/compat_ioctl.c and also dispatch compat ioctls down into the driver and 80211 protocol helper layers in order to handle iw_point objects embedded in stream replies which need to be translated. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-10-10[NET]: Make the device list and device lookups per namespace.Eric W. Biederman
This patch makes most of the generic device layer network namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a network namespace variable, and then it picks up a few associated variables. The functions: dev_getbyhwaddr dev_getfirsthwbytype dev_get_by_flags dev_get_by_name __dev_get_by_name dev_get_by_index __dev_get_by_index dev_ioctl dev_ethtool dev_load wireless_process_ioctl were modified to take a network namespace argument, and deal with it. vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their hooks will receive a network namespace argument. So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces. For now the ifindex generator is left global. Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else we will have corner case problems with migration when we get that far. At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when you change namespaces, and the like. Signed-off-by: Eric W. 2007-04-27[NET]: Fix networking compilation errorsDavid Howells
Fix miscellaneous networking compilation errors. (*) Export ktime_add_ns() for modules. (*) wext_proc_init() should have an ANSI declaration. Signed-off-by: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
