2016-09-17l2tp: constify net_device_ops structuresJulia Lawall
Check for net_device_ops structures that are only stored in the netdev_ops field of a net_device structure. This field is declared const, so net_device_ops structures that have this property can be declared as const also. The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @r disable optional_qualifier@ identifier i; position p; @@ static struct net_device_ops i@p = { ... }; @ok@ identifier r.i; struct net_device e; position p; @@ e.netdev_ops = &i@p; @bad@ position p != {r.p,ok.p}; identifier r.i; struct net_device_ops e; @@ e@i@p @depends on !bad disable optional_qualifier@ identifier r.i; @@ static +const struct net_device_ops i = { ... }; // </smpl> The result of size on this file before the change is: text data bss dec hex filename 3401 931 44 4376 1118 net/l2tp/l2tp_eth.o and after the change it is: text data bss dec hex filename 3993 347 44 4384 1120 net/l2tp/l2tp_eth.o Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <Julia.Lawall@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: David S. 2016-09-02l2tp: fix use-after-free during module unloadSabrina Dubroca
Tunnel deletion is delayed by both a workqueue (l2tp_tunnel_delete -> wq -> l2tp_tunnel_del_work) and RCU (sk_destruct -> RCU -> l2tp_tunnel_destruct). By the time l2tp_tunnel_destruct() runs to destroy the tunnel and finish destroying the socket, the private data reserved via the net_generic mechanism has already been freed, but l2tp_tunnel_destruct() actually uses this data. Make sure tunnel deletion for the netns has completed before returning from l2tp_exit_net() by first flushing the tunnel removal workqueue, and then waiting for RCU callbacks to complete. 2016-05-03ipv6: add new struct ipcm6_cookieWei Wang
In the sendmsg function of UDP, raw, ICMP and l2tp sockets, we use local variables like hlimits, tclass, opt and dontfrag and pass them to corresponding functions like ip6_make_skb, ip6_append_data and xxx_push_pending_frames. This is not a good practice and makes it hard to add new parameters. This fix introduces a new struct ipcm6_cookie similar to ipcm_cookie in ipv4 and include the above mentioned variables. And we only pass the pointer to this structure to corresponding functions. This makes it easier to add new parameters in the future and makes the function cleaner. 2016-05-01net: l2tp: fix reversed udp6 checksum flagsWang Shanker
This patch fixes a bug which causes the behavior of whether to ignore udp6 checksum of udp6 encapsulated l2tp tunnel contrary to what userspace program requests. When the flag `L2TP_ATTR_UDP_ZERO_CSUM6_RX` is set by userspace, it is expected that udp6 checksums of received packets of the l2tp tunnel to create should be ignored. In `l2tp_netlink.c`: `l2tp_nl_cmd_tunnel_create()`, `cfg.udp6_zero_rx_checksums` is set according to the flag, and then passed to `l2tp_core.c`: `l2tp_tunnel_create()` and then `l2tp_tunnel_sock_create()`. In `l2tp_tunnel_sock_create()`, `udp_conf.use_udp6_rx_checksums` is set the same to `cfg.udp6_zero_rx_checksums`. However, if we want the checksum to be ignored, `udp_conf.use_udp6_rx_checksums` should be set to `false`, i.e. be set to the contrary. Similarly, the same should be done to `udp_conf.use_udp6_tx_checksums`. Signed-off-by: Miao Wang <shankerwangmiao@gmail.com> Acked-by: James Chapman <jchapman@katalix.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2016-04-04sock: enable timestamping using control messagesSoheil Hassas Yeganeh
Currently, SOL_TIMESTAMPING can only be enabled using setsockopt. This is very costly when users want to sample writes to gather tx timestamps. Add support for enabling SO_TIMESTAMPING via control messages by using tsflags added in `struct sockcm_cookie` (added in the previous patches in this series) to set the tx_flags of the last skb created in a sendmsg. With this patch, the timestamp recording bits in tx_flags of the skbuff is overridden if SO_TIMESTAMPING is passed in a cmsg. Please note that this is only effective for overriding the recording timestamps flags. Users should enable timestamp reporting (e.g., SOF_TIMESTAMPING_SOFTWARE | SOF_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_ID) using socket options and then should ask for SOF_TIMESTAMPING_TX_* using control messages per sendmsg to sample timestamps for each write. 2016-04-04ipv6: process socket-level control messages in IPv6Soheil Hassas Yeganeh
Process socket-level control messages by invoking __sock_cmsg_send in ip6_datagram_send_ctl for control messages on the SOL_SOCKET layer. This makes sure whenever ip6_datagram_send_ctl is called for udp and raw, we also process socket-level control messages. This is a bit uglier than IPv4, since IPv6 does not have something like ipcm_cookie. Perhaps we can later create a control message cookie for IPv6? Note that this commit interprets new control messages that were ignored before. As such, this commit does not change the behavior of IPv6 control messages. 2016-02-17l2tp: Fix error creating L2TP tunnelsMark Tomlinson
A previous commit (33f72e6) added notification via netlink for tunnels when created/modified/deleted. If the notification returned an error, this error was returned from the tunnel function. If there were no listeners, the error code ESRCH was returned, even though having no listeners is not an error. 2016-02-11inet: create IPv6-equivalent inet_hash functionCraig Gallek
In order to support fast lookups for TCP sockets with SO_REUSEPORT, the function that adds sockets to the listening hash set needs to be able to check receive address equality. Since this equality check is different for IPv4 and IPv6, we will need two different socket hashing functions. This patch adds inet6_hash identical to the existing inet_hash function and updates the appropriate references. A following patch will differentiate the two by passing different comparison functions to __inet_hash. Additionally, in order to use the IPv6 address equality function from inet6_hashtables (which is compiled as a built-in object when IPv6 is enabled) it also needs to be in a built-in object file as well. This moves ipv6_rcv_saddr_equal into inet_hashtables to accomplish this. Signed-off-by: Craig Gallek <kraig@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

It should not be necessary to do explicit module loading when configuring L2TP. Modules should be loaded as needed instead (as is done already with netlink and other tunnel types). This patch adds a new module alias type and code to load the sub module on demand. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <stephen@networkplumber.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2015-05-11net: Modify sk_alloc to not reference count the netns of kernel sockets.Eric W. Biederman
Now that sk_alloc knows when a kernel socket is being allocated modify it to not reference count the network namespace of kernel sockets. Keep track of if a socket needs reference counting by adding a flag to struct sock called sk_net_refcnt. Update all of the callers of sock_create_kern to stop using sk_change_net and sk_release_kernel as those hacks are no longer needed, to avoid reference counting a kernel socket. 2015-05-11net: Pass kern from net_proto_family.create to sk_allocEric W. Biederman

Conflicts: drivers/net/ethernet/mellanox/mlx4/cmd.c net/core/fib_rules.c net/ipv4/fib_frontend.c The fib_rules.c and fib_frontend.c conflicts were locking adjustments in 'net' overlapping addition and removal of code in 'net-next'. The mlx4 conflict was a bug fix in 'net' happening in the same place a constant was being replaced with a more suitable macro. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2015-03-31netlink: implement nla_put_in_addr and nla_put_in6_addrJiri Benc
IP addresses are often stored in netlink attributes. Add generic functions to do that. For nla_put_in_addr, it would be nicer to pass struct in_addr but this is not used universally throughout the kernel, in way too many places __be32 is used to store IPv4 address. 2015-03-02net: Remove iocb argument from sendmsg and recvmsgYing Xue
After TIPC doesn't depend on iocb argument in its internal implementations of sendmsg() and recvmsg() hooks defined in proto structure, no any user is using iocb argument in them at all now. Then we can drop the redundant iocb argument completely from kinds of implementations of both sendmsg() and recvmsg() in the entire networking stack. 2015-01-18netlink: make nlmsg_end() and genlmsg_end() voidJohannes Berg
Contrary to common expectations for an "int" return, these functions return only a positive value -- if used correctly they cannot even return 0 because the message header will necessarily be in the skb. This makes the very common pattern of if (genlmsg_end(...) < 0) { ... } be a whole bunch of dead code. Many places also simply do return nlmsg_end(...); and the caller is expected to deal with it. This also commonly (at least for me) causes errors, because it is very common to write if (my_function(...)) /* error condition */ and if my_function() does "return nlmsg_end()" this is of course wrong. Additionally, there's not a single place in the kernel that actually needs the message length returned, and if anyone needs it later then it'll be very easy to just use skb->len there. Remove this, and make the functions void. This removes a bunch of dead code as described above. The patch adds lines because I did - return nlmsg_end(...); + nlmsg_end(...); + return 0; I could have preserved all the function's return values by returning skb->len, but instead I've audited all the places calling the affected functions and found that none cared. A few places actually compared the return value with <= 0 in dump functionality, but that could just be changed to < 0 with no change in behaviour, so I opted for the more efficient version. One instance of the error I've made numerous times now is also present in net/phonet/pn_netlink.c in the route_dumpit() function - it didn't check for <0 or <=0 and thus broke out of the loop every single time. I've preserved this since it will (I think) have caused the messages to userspace to be formatted differently with just a single message for every SKB returned to userspace. It's possible that this isn't needed for the tools that actually use this, but I don't even know what they are so couldn't test that changing this behaviour would be acceptable. 2014-12-31l2tp : multicast notification to the registered listenersBill Hong
Previously l2tp module did not provide any means for the user space to get notified when tunnels/sessions are added/modified/deleted.
