2015-05-12arch: Make board selection choices optionalJoe Hershberger
By making the board selections optional, every defconfig will include the board selection when running savedefconfig so if a new board is added to the top of the list of choices the former top's defconfig will still be correct. 2015-03-28generic-board: select SYS_GENERIC_BOARD for some architecturesMasahiro Yamada
We have done with the generic board conversion for all the boards of ARC, Blackfin, M68000, MicroBlaze, MIPS, NIOS2, Sandbox, X86. Let's select SYS_GENERIC_BOARD for those architectures, so we can tell which architecture has finished the conversion at a glance. 2015-02-09microblaze: spl: Do not call mem_malloc_init and use early allocMichal Simek
This patch has some parts connected together: - Use _gd in bss section which is automatically cleared Location at SPL_MALLOC_END wasn't cleared at all - Use MALLOC_F_LEN(early alloc) instead of FULL MALLOC (mem_malloc_init is not called at all) - Simplify malloc and stack init. 2014-12-08Kbuild: introduce Makefile in arch/$ARCH/Daniel Schwierzeck
Introduce a Makefile under arch/$ARCH/ and include it in the top Makefile (similar to Linux kernel). This allows further refactoringi like moving architecture-specific code out of global makefiles, deprecating config variables (CPU, CPUDIR, SOC) or deprecating arch/$ARCH/config.mk. In contrary to Linux kernel, U-Boot defines the ARCH variable by Kconfig, thus the arch Makefile can only included conditionally after the top config.mk. 2014-10-27kconfig: add CONFIG_SUPPORT_SPLMasahiro Yamada

2014-09-13kconfig: remove redundant "string" type in arch and board KconfigsMasahiro Yamada
Now the types of CONFIG_SYS_{ARCH, CPU, SOC, VENDOR, BOARD, CONFIG_NAME} are specified in arch/Kconfig. We can delete the ones in arch and board Kconfig files. This commit can be easily reproduced by the following command: find . -name Kconfig -a ! -path ./arch/Kconfig | xargs sed -i -e ' /config[[:space:]]SYS_\(ARCH\|CPU\|SOC\|\VENDOR\|BOARD\|CONFIG_NAME\)/ { N s/\n[[:space:]]*string// } ' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>

2014-07-30kconfig: add board Kconfig and defconfig filesMasahiro Yamada
This commit adds: - arch/${ARCH}/Kconfig provide a menu to select target boards - board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/Kconfig or board/${BOARD}/Kconfig set CONFIG macros to the appropriate values for each board - configs/${TARGET_BOARD}_defconfig default setting of each board (This commit was automatically generated by a conversion script based on boards.cfg) In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory. It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the command line for cross compile. But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line. Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done. That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a single directory ./configs/. 2014-06-20Makefile: Support include files for .dts filesSimon Glass
Linux supports this, and if we are to have compatible device tree files, U-Boot should also. Avoid giving the device tree files access to U-Boot's include/ directory. 2014-06-19fdt_support: delete force argument of fdt_initrd()Masahiro Yamada
After all, we have realized "force" argument is completely useless. fdt_initrd() was always called with force = 1. We should always want to do the same thing (set appropriate value to the property) even if the property already exists. 2014-05-12bd_info: remove bi_barudrate member from struct bd_infoMasahiro Yamada
gd->bd->bi_baudrate is a copy of gd->baudrate. Since baudrate is a common feature for all architectures, keep gd->baudrate only. It is true that bi_baudrate was passed to the kernel in that structure but it was a long time ago. 2014-03-12kbuild: delete redundant LDSCRIPT definitionMasahiro Yamada

2014-03-04kbuild: fix CROSS_COMPILE settings in config.mkMasahiro Yamada
The syntax CROSS_COMIPLE ?= <cross_compiler_prefix> does not work because config.mk is parsed after exporting CROSS_COMPILE. Like Linux Kernel's arch/$(ARCH)/Makefile, we must write as follows: ifeq ($(CROSS_COMPILE),) CROSS_COMPILE := <cross_compiler_prefix> endif Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
2014-02-19dts: generate multiple device tree blobsMasahiro Yamada
It is convenient to have all device trees on the same SoC compiled. It allows for later easy repackaging without the need to re-run the make file. - Build device trees with the same SoC under arch/$(ARCH)/dts - Copy the one specified by CONFIG_DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE or DEVICE_TREE=... to dts/dt.dtb Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
2014-02-19dts: move device tree sources to arch/$(ARCH)/dts/Masahiro Yamada
Unlike Linux Kernel, U-Boot historically had *.dts files under board/$(VENDOR)/dts/ and *.dtsi files under arch/$(ARCH)/dts/. I think arch/$(ARCH)/dts dicretory is a better location to store both *.dts and *.dtsi files. For example, before this commit, board/xilinx/dts directory had both Microblaze dts (microblaze-generic.dts) and ARM dts (zynq-*.dts), which are totally unrelated. This commit moves *.dts to arch/$(ARCH)/dts/ directories, allowing us to describe nicely mutiple DTBs generation in the next commit. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
2014-02-19dts: re-write dts/Makefile more simply with KbuildMasahiro Yamada
Useful rules in scripts/Makefile.lib allows us to easily generate a device tree blob and wrap it in assembly code. We do not need to parse a linker script to get output format and arch. This commit deletes ./u-boot.dtb since it is a copy of dts/dt.dtb. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>

2013-07-02avr32/m68k/microblaze/nds32/nios2/openrisc/sh/sparc: fix do_bootm_linuxAndreas Bießmann
Commit 35fc84fa1ff51e15ecd3e464dac87eb105ffed30 broke bootm on avr32. It requires to call do_bootm_linux() with flag set to BOOTM_STATE_OS_PREP before calling it again with flag set to BOOTM_STATE_OS_GO.
