2017-02-12flash: complete CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH move with renamingMasahiro Yamada
We repeated partial moves for CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH, but this is not completed. Finish this work by the tool. During this move, let's rename it to CONFIG_MTD_NOR_FLASH. Actually, we have more instances of "#ifndef CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH" than those of "#ifdef CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH". Flipping the logic will make the code more readable. Besides, negative meaning symbols do not fit in obj-$(CONFIG_...) style Makefiles. This commit was created as follows: [1] Edit "default n" to "default y" in the config entry in common/Kconfig. [2] Run "tools/moveconfig.py -y -r HEAD SYS_NO_FLASH" [3] Rename the instances in defconfigs by the following: find . -path './configs/*_defconfig' | xargs sed -i \ -e '/CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH=y/d' \ -e 's/# CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH is not set/CONFIG_MTD_NOR_FLASH=y/' [4] Change the conditionals by the following: find . -name '*.[ch]' | xargs sed -i \ -e 's/ifndef CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH/ifdef CONFIG_MTD_NOR_FLASH/' \ -e 's/ifdef CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH/ifndef CONFIG_MTD_NOR_FLASH/' \ -e 's/!defined(CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH)/defined(CONFIG_MTD_NOR_FLASH)/' \ -e 's/defined(CONFIG_SYS_NO_FLASH)/!defined(CONFIG_MTD_NOR_FLASH)/' [5] Modify the following manually - Rename the rest of instances - Remove the description from README - Create the new Kconfig entry in drivers/mtd/Kconfig - Remove the old Kconfig entry from common/Kconfig - Remove the garbage comments from include/configs/*.h Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com>

2016-07-21mpc83xx: make it bootable with the latest kernelKevin Hao
Due to the blow up of the latest kernel size, the default gnuzip size (8M) seems too small. The yocto kernel size I built for mpc8315erdb board is 5294393, and it can't be boot by using the latest u-boot. So expand gnuzip buffer for all the mpc83xx boards to fix this issue. Robert P. J. Day also pointed that the kernel partition on the NAND flash is also too small, fix it at the same time. Reported-by: Robert P. J. 2016-07-21mpc83xx: fix the corruption of u-boot when saveenvKevin Hao
Robert P. J. Day has pointed that the value of SYS_MONITOR_LEN in MPC8315ERDB.h is smaller than the u-boot.bin. This will cause the overlap between the code of u-boot and the environment variable. So when executing saveenv, it will corrupt the code of u-boot and causes the board not boot. Fix this for all the mpc83xx boards by reserving a 512K area. Reported-by: Robert P. J. 2016-03-14Kconfig: Move CONFIG_FIT and related options to KconfigSimon Glass
There are already two FIT options in Kconfig but the CONFIG options are still in the header files. We need to do a proper move to fix this. Move these options to Kconfig and tidy up board configuration: CONFIG_FIT CONFIG_OF_BOARD_SETUP CONFIG_OF_SYSTEM_SETUP CONFIG_FIT_SIGNATURE CONFIG_FIT_BEST_MATCH CONFIG_FIT_VERBOSE CONFIG_OF_STDOUT_VIA_ALIAS CONFIG_RSA Unfortunately the first one is a little complicated. We need to make sure this option is not enabled in SPL by this change. Also this option is enabled automatically in the host builds by defining CONFIG_FIT in the image.h file. To solve this, add a new IMAGE_USE_FIT #define which can be used in files that are built on the host but must also build for U-Boot and SPL. Note: Masahiro's moveconfig.py script is amazing. 2011-04-20fsl: Change fsl_phy_enet_if to phy_interface_tAndy Fleming
The fsl_phy_enet_if enum was, essentially, the phy_interface_t enum. This meant that drivers which used fsl_phy_enet_if to deal with PHY interfaces would have to convert between the two (or we would have to have them mirror each other, and deal with the ensuing maintenance headache). Instead, we switch all clients of fsl_phy_enet_if over to phy_interface_t, which should become the standard, anyway. 2010-10-26Replace CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE by auto-generated valueWolfgang Denk
CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE has always been just a bad workarond for not being able to use "sizeof(struct global_data)" in assembler files. Recent experience has shown that manual synchronization is not reliable enough. This patch renames CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE into GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE which gets automatically generated by the asm-offsets tool. In the result, all definitions of this value can be deleted from the board config files. We have to make sure that all files that reference such data include the new <asm-offsets.h> file. No other changes have been done yet, but it is obvious that similar changes / simplifications can be done for other, related macro definitions as well. 2010-10-26Rename CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_END into CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_SIZEWolfgang Denk
CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_END was a misnomer as it suggests this might be some end address; to make the meaning more clear we rename it into CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_SIZE No other code changes are performed in this patch, only minor editing of white space (due to the changed length) and the comments was done, where noticed. Note that the code for the PATI and cmi_mpc5xx board configurations looks seriously broken. 2010-10-18powerpc: Cleanup BOOTFLAG_* referencesPeter Tyser
Now that warm booting is not supported, there isn't a need for the BOOTFLAG_COLD and BOOTFLAG_WARM defines, so remove them. Note that this change makes the board info bd_bootflags field useless. It will always be set to 0, but we leave it around so that we don't break the board info structure that some OSes are expecting to be passed from U-Boot. 2010-10-18Makefile: move all Power Architecture boards into boards.cfgWolfgang Denk

2010-10-18Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk
The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. 2010-09-23e300: increase CONFIG_SYS_BOOTMAPSZ to allow booting large kernelsIra W. Snyder
Newer Linux kernels can overrun the initial memory window used for booting with their BSS area. When this happens, they overwrite the FDT and silently fail to boot. On e300 CPUs, the Linux kernel uses an initial BAT covering the first 256MB of RAM. See arch/powerpc/kernel/head_32.S for details. Increase the value of CONFIG_SYS_BOOTMAPSZ to accommodate the maximum value allowed by Linux. This will allow very large kernels to boot. Signed-off-by: Ira W.
