2013-10-31[media] Add support for KWorld UB435-Q V2Jean-Francois Thibert
This patch adds support for the UB435-Q V2. You might need to use the device once with the Windows driver provided by KWorld in order to permanently reprogram the device descriptors. Thanks to Jarod Wilson for the initial attempt at adding support for this device. 2013-10-31[media] V4L2: em28xx: register a V4L2 clock sourceGuennadi Liakhovetski
Camera sensors usually require a master clock for data sampling. This patch registers such a clock source for em28xx cameras. This fixes the currently broken em28xx ov2640 camera support and can also be used by other camera sensors. 2013-06-19[media] em28xx: remove GPIO register cachingFrank Schaefer
The GPIO register caching is the result of wrong assumptions and incomplete knowledge about the GPIO registers and their functionality. Today, we know that it is not needed. It is also limited to a single register and therefore incomplete (newer chips are using multiple registers). Instead of extending the caching, get rid of it, because it has no real benefits and just bloats/complicates the code. 2013-03-29[media] em28xx: add basic support for OmniVision OV2640 sensorsFrank Schaefer
This sensor is used by the "SpeedLink Vicious And Devine Laplace webcam" and others. It supports resolutions up to 1600x1200 (at 7-8 fps), but for resolutions higher than 640x480, further driver changes will be necessary, such as sensor output resolution switching (including further configuration changes), bridge xclk adjustment and disabling of 16 bit (12 bit) output formats at high resolutions. Image quality should also needs to be improved. Signed-off-by: Frank Schäfer <fschaefer.oss@googlemail.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2013-03-29[media] em28xx: move sensor code to a separate source code file em28xx-camera.cFrank Schaefer

2013-03-28[media] em28xx: add support for em25xx i2c bus B read/write/check device ↵Frank Schaefer
operations The webcam "SpeedLink VAD Laplace" (em2765 + ov2640) uses a special algorithm for i2c communication with the sensor, which is connected to a second i2c bus. We don't know yet how to find out which devices support/use it. It's very likely used by all em25xx and em276x+ bridges. Tests with other em28xx chips (em2820, em2882/em2883) show, that this algorithm always succeeds there although no slave device is connected. The algorithm likely also works for real i2c client devices (OV2640 uses SCCB), because the Windows driver seems to use it for probing Samsung and Kodak sensors. 2013-03-04[media] em28xx: extract the device configuration dataset from eeproms with ↵Frank Schaefer
16 bit address width The new eeproms with 16 address width still have the the device config dataset (the content of the old 8 bit eeproms) embedded. Hauppauge also continues to include the tveeprom data structure inside this dataset in their devices. The start address of the dataset depends on the start address of the microcode and a variable additional offset. It should be mentioned that Camera devices seem to use a different dataset type, which is not yet supported. Tested with devices "Hauppauge HVR-930C". I've also checked the USB-log from the "MSI Digivox ATSC" and it works the same way. 2013-03-04[media] em28xx: do not store eeprom content permanentlyFrank Schaefer
We currently reserve an array of 256 bytes for the eeprom content in the device struct. For eeproms with 16 bit address width it might even be necessary to increase the buffer size further. Having such a big chunk of memory reserved even if the device has no eeprom and keeping it after it has already been processed seems to be a waste of memory. Change the code to allocate + free the eeprom memory dynamically. This also makes it possible to handle different dataset sizes depending on what is stored/found in the eeprom. 2013-03-04[media] em28xx: add basic support for eeproms with 16 bit address widthFrank Schaefer
Newer devices (em2874, em2884, em28174, em25xx, em27[6,7,8]x) use eeproms with 16 bit instead of 8 bit address width. The used eeprom type depends on the chip type, which makes sure eeproms can't be damaged. This patch adds basic support for 16 bit eeproms only, which includes - reading the content - calculating the eeprom hash - displaying the content The eeprom content uses a different format, for which support will be added with subsequent patches. Tested with the "Hauppauge HVR-930C" and the "Speedlink VAD Laplace webcam" (with additional experimental patches). 2013-03-04[media] em28xx: fix eeprom data endianessFrank Schaefer
The data is stored as little endian in the eeprom. Hence the correct data types should be used and the data should be converted to the machine endianess before using it. 2013-02-05[media] em28xx: get rid of the dependency on module ir-kbd-i2cFrank Schaefer
We already have the key polling functions and the polling infrastructure in em28xx-input, so we can easily get rid of the dependency on module ir-kbd-i2c. For maximum safety, do not touch the key reporting mechanism for those devices. Code size could be improved further but would have minor peformance impacts. 2013-01-05[media] em28xx: fix two severe bugs in function em2800_i2c_recv_bytes()Frank Schaefer
Function em2800_i2c_recv_bytes() has 2 severe bugs: 1) It does not wait for the i2c read to complete before reading the received message content from the bridge registers. 2) Reading more than 1 byte doesn't work The former can result in data corruption, the latter always does. The rewritten code also superseds the content of function em2800_i2c_check_for_device(). Tested with device "Terratec Cinergy 200 USB". 2012-12-22[media] em28xx: move caching of pointer to vmalloc memory in videobuf to ↵Frank Schaefer
struct em28xx_buffer In the current code em28xx_urb_data_copy() caches the pointer to the vmalloc memory in videobuf locally. The alternative would be to call videobuf_to_vmalloc() for each processed USB data packet (isoc USB transfers => 64 times per URB) in the em28xx_copy_*() functions. With the next commits, the data processing code will be split into functions for serveral reasons: - em28xx_urb_data_copy() is generally way to long, making it less readable - there is code duplication between VBI and video data processing - support for em25xx data processing (uses a different header and frame end signaling mechanism) will be added This would require extensive usage of pointer-pointers, which usually makes the code less readable and prone to bugs. The better solution is to cache the pointer in struct em28xx_buffer. This also improves consistency, because we already track the buffer fill count there. 2012-12-22[media] em28xx: move field 'pos' from struct em28xx_dmaqueue to struct ↵Frank Schaefer
em28xx_buffer This field is used to keep track of the current memory position in the buffer, not in the dma queue, so move it to right place. This also allows us to get rid of the struct em28xx_dmaqueue pointer parameter in functions em28xx_copy_video() and em28xx_copy_vbi(). 2012-12-22[media] em28xx: use common urb data copying function for vbi and non-vbi ↵Frank Schaefer
data streams em28xx_urb_data_copy_vbi() is actually an extended version of em28xx_urb_data_copy(). With the preceding fixes and improvements, it works fine with both, vbi and non-vbi data streams without performance impacts. So rename em28xx_urb_data_copy_vbi() to em28xx_urb_data_copy(), delete the the old implementation of em28xx_urb_data_copy() and change the code to use this function for both data stream types. Tested with "SilverCrest 1.3 MPix webcam" (progressive, non-vbi) and "Hauppauge HVR-900 (65008/A1C0)" (interlaced, vbi enabled and disabled). 2012-12-22[media] em28xx: fix capture type setting in em28xx_urb_data_copy_vbi()Frank Schaefer
Set capture type to 1 (video start) when the video frame start header is detected. This bug didn't cause any trouble, because this type of header is never received in vbi mode. Fix it, because we want to use this function with disabled vbi in the future. Also start with capture type -1 to avoid processing of corrupted/incomplete frame data which is usually received at streaming start (especially when USB bulk transfers are used). 2012-12-22[media] em28xx: improve USB endpoint logic, also use bulk transfersFrank Schaefer
The current enpoint logic ignores all bulk endpoints and uses a fixed mapping between endpint addresses and the supported data stream types (analog/audio/DVB): Ep 0x82, isoc => analog Ep 0x83, isoc => audio Ep 0x84, isoc => DVB Now that the code can also do bulk transfers, the endpoint logic has to be extended to also consider bulk endpoints. The new logic preserves backwards compatibility and reflects the endpoint configurations we have seen so far: Ep 0x82, isoc => analog Ep 0x82, bulk => analog Ep 0x83, isoc* => audio Ep 0x84, isoc => digital Ep 0x84, bulk => analog or digital** (*: audio should always be isoc) (**: analog, if ep 0x82 is isoc, otherwise digital) [mchehab@redhat.com: Fix a CodingStyle issue: don't break strings into separate lines] Signed-off-by: Frank Schäfer <fschaefer.oss@googlemail.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
